I am wondering what to get our 13, almost 14 year old DD for her Easter basket this year.  We will be driving from Va. to Fla. right  before Easter so it has to be something that can travel well.  We usually do the candy thing but last year, we ate more of it than she did....

I was thinking maybe some small tubes of sun screen, a book and other beach stuff for her to use in Florida.  She's a big i-pod fan so maybe an i-tunes certificate?

I know you'll come through with ideas I neer thought about!

Thanks in advance,

My 13 1/2 y/o daughter is really into jewelry making.  I bought her a bunch of beads, charms, jewelry string/line at Michaels (our local craft store), they have a whole isle dedicated to jewelry making.  She will sit for hours making bracelets, ear rings and necklaces.  She has made some beautiful things. She has made things for all her friends and family.   Plus, if you bought her a small partitioned container she could do it in the car.

The ideas mentioned are good, all you would need to do is purchase an easter basket and some of that celephane to wrap it in and it will look like a store bought basket.

I do this for my grandkids.  They range from 9 mo. to 8 yr. old and their parents do not like them to have a lot of candy.  What I do is purchase an easter basket and then purchase little toys, those one serving pudding and apple sauce containers, cracker packs, a stuffed bunny, books, etc. and put them in the basket and wrap it with the celephane.  It is always a big hit.  Most of the stuff I get at the 99 cent store or similar stores.  Just little things that make it look like they are getting a lot. They love it when they have it spread all over the floor.

I love making baskets for all sorts of occasions. Girls in this age group are really easy.   There are so many choices....With me, books are always good and I love the jewelry making idea if she likes crafty things, Other ideas:
-  Little makeup kits, (lip gloss, blush, nail polish, etc.,)
-  hair accessories
-  depending on her size,  you might be able to fit a new bikini into the larger snap together eggs....top in one, bottoms in another.
- Line the basket with a new bright colored beach towel
-  necklaces, bracelets,
- body lotions and bubble baths (this age seems to love the glitter stuff)

Have fun!!!

Vicki had some great ideas too!  Our daughters are 21 and 20 in college and still expect an Easter basket every year.  I really enjoy doing it for them.  Now a days they like stuff like razors, make up, bath stuff, gift certificates, undies and socks.  The last two are always on the list, dorm laundry yah know!

I went with my oldest daughter to Dollar Tree yesterday to fix baskets for her 6 and 2 year old boys. Intead of baskets, we bought them plastic sand buckets and filled them with toys and candy. That way, they can use them this summer at the beach and the mountains. The 2 year old loves to collect pretty rocks!
