I am going to clean and lube the shaft of my BAL leveler.  There is some gunk on the threaded shaft.  What should I use to clean and lube it?  I was thinking of using a degreaser and wire brush to clean it, and bearing grease to lube it.

How timely!!  I was just nagging DH this afternoon about cleaning the sand off the BAL screw.  Come  on, you guys who know......what do you put back on it???

Regular wheel bearing grease is fine, but it can get a little messy. The white lithium grease will do fine and is a little less messy. It can be purchased in an aerosol can as well.

As far as cleaning goes, parts cleaning solvent should work quite nicely.
You can get that at the auto parts store when you buy the grease of your choice.

Have fun!!
