Bunkend insulation mod

I borrowed the idea from SurfCal and made insulation for my bunkend windows out of car windshield sun shades.  I bought 6 of the foil looking accordion folding car window sunshades at Big Lots.  4 jumbo size ($4 each)  and 2 ($2 each) regular size shades.  The front king bunk needed the jumbo size for all 3 windows.  The full size rear bunk used the standard size sun shade for the side windows and the jumbo size shades for the back window.  I cut the sun shades with a pair of scissors and it only took a few minutes to cut each sun shade to fit in the widow between the screen and the tenting.  I will find out how well they work this week when we finally get to go camping.

Let me know how it works. Will you also be using PopupGizmo's (?) covers over the bunks? or under the mattresses?

I will be using the covers shiny side down on top of the bunkend.  I don't think putting them under will make much of a difference.  One other thing I do for cold weather camping is put 1 inch square foam air conditioner insulation strips between the beds and the tenting.  It stops cold air from coming in around the bunkend edges.

"Borrowing ideas" from surfcal can quickly get you in trouble.  We try to keep him within the confines of NNC but every once in a while he gets out without us noticing.  If that happens again, please give us a call and we'll haul back where he's only a danger to himself.   :J

Only a danger to himself when confined to NNC :confused:  Apparently you aren't aware of the Eigermeister incident in which two female members of NNC have now been Ray-Banned.

Well I do like Ray, but if you think he needs to be kept in CA I will do my best. You know he does travel a bit and gets around.  I do promise not to wrap my PU in reflective material.   Right now it is wrapped in 3 inches of snow and we are camping tomorrow.:eyecrazy:
