you men always try to find something "cool" so we ladies can slave away in the kitchen more ;)

Actually, this does look similar to a large garlic press.   You just put your cooked potatoes in and squeeze the handle together and little stings of potato comes out.   Fluff them up with a spatula with some warm cream and butter and YUMMY!   They don't get goopy or sticky like they can with a mixer.   Stay nice and fluffy.   Now, if you want them lumpy, or want the skins left on,  this isn't the thing for ya...just use an old fashioned potato masher instead.   I like them both ways!

And actually Dee...I love it when my man finds a new cool tool for me to use in the kitchen...in our house whoever cooks does NOT do the dishes!   ;)   Maybe that's why I love to cook!  I sure hate to do the dishes!

That's the rule in our camper, when camping!

Quote from: HersheyGirlI just bought DH a hand egg beater so that he could make a soufle for the kids at scout camp.  I thought this is a handy little thing and I should take it camping.  DH said it worked, but not as fast as an electric mixer.  The ricer sounds like a good idea....I may have to do a big lots run this week.  Thanks for the tip.

Becky, wouldn't a wire whisk had done the same thing?  I think I have one (wire wisk) in the camper...I remember those hand beaters, my grandmother and I would use them for Jiffy Cake mixes when I was a liittl thing, oh about 40 years ago or longer.

I suggested a wire whisk to him too....but then I went out and found the hand beater.  DH said that it took a fairly long time with the hand beater, and he thought that a wire wisk would have taken alot longer than the beater.  We used the hand beater when I was a kid too.  The big Sunbeam electric mixer was for Mom's use, like when she made merange for the lemon pies....hmmmmmm, she could make a mean lemon merange pie.

Sorry I posted twice, did not think that I went the first time.

Mom had the big mixer too and boy could she make merangue also...I never quite got the hang of it.

Grandma was not much of a cook or baker, so we did the Jiffy mix thing. Mom made cakes from scratch.

I got mom's kitchenaid mixer when it was no longer good enough for her and she bought the new improved version.

Can't wait to go camping and use my Ricer!!

Oh GOSH , I haven't had a really good lemon merange pie in years!  YUM!
