Cabinet doors-Is this feasible

Hi all, I am thinking about putting "pantry" type cabinet doors on the storage benches for easy access.

Why I am choosing stock cabinet doors in the pantry is that these doors are "shorter" than the average ones.

What I plan to do is get one of those 18 volt jigsaw/saw combos, a few pieces of stud wood, several sets of pantry doors, some of that plastic stuff that goes over cut edges of paneling and my 18 volt drill.

Attach to door hing to an existing stud, toenail with screws the stud that will be at the open side of the door. Drill a large hole and jigsaw out the paneling to Fit the door and put some of that stuff on the paneling to make it look better and keep me from getting hooked up on the jagged edges of the cut paneling. Then get some of those trailer latches to keep the doors closed in transit.
For handles I was thinking about using rope, as I would not want to come off the bunk end and cut up my legs on handles.

Does this sound feasible?
Any other suggestion? Remember I will get no help from the husband...

You sound like you have some basic carpentry skills which is all that is neened for a project like that.. I would definitely give it a try.....Nothing to loose, alot to gain.. If I can help out, let me know ....Good Luck.....

No carpentry skills at all, just a lot of guts and getting tired for moving everything to get one little something ot other every now and then.

I want another outside door to access on the other side (front) of the trailer.  But that is too far beyond my skills.

Raymond told me at lunch he was staying out of this deal...so I am on my own.

Go for it Paula.  If Raymond doesn't want to help you, let him camp in the Jayco.:D

Don't laugh, I was actually thinking about using the doors from the Jayco, as they should be the right size...

The Jayco needs new canvas, does not have air, the back wall under the back bunk end is rottening, we lost the spare and holder last year somewhere in VA or Maryland, the roof has been skewed ever since we bought it due to kids hanging on it.  the credenzas and table are in good shape.  The stove needs a new table-thingee.

Hey, I could take out the credendas from the Jayco. Take out the benches from the u'shaped lounge and switch them out...The table/bed may sit a little higher, but not much. I would have drawers as each credenza has drawers and the one even has a door that would open without actaully going into my the front door, just what I wanted to do...how cool would that be???
