Hello my name is Michael and I am a PU-coholic.  It all started back in 2003 when I bought a 2004 Coleman Niagara.  Sure I was a tent camper and had it under control.  My soon to be wife had got into tent camping with me.  I warned her about it at first that it can get in your blood.  I thought she could handle it she a strong woman.  Soon I caught her rolling up sleeping bags when she thought I wasn't looking. :screwy:   My god what have I done. :banghead:

One day we were .........camping in Springfield Illinois to go to the state fair and then we saw it.   We had heard others talk of it but were to scared to take the next step.  It was a Pop-Up.  It was hot outside.  I'm only human.  We went inside the PU.  The cool air hit us and I knew we had crossed the line where no tenter who hates monthly payments should go.  The company at the fair rented them.  They know once you camping with them once you'll be back.  Then they get you on the come-back with sales tax, options and easy monthly payments.

Two months later we found our selves at a Rv show.  Looking at a 2004 Coleman Niagara and putting down $100 on it.  Then we started camping with the PU.  Sure we enjoyed it and had fun and found any excuse to sneak away for a few nights or a week.  I knew all hope was gone when we took the PU to Florida and got married and honeymooned in the keys with the PU.  :!

Being a PU-coholic we visited Rv shows looking at other campers.  Just can't stay away.  At the last RV show in Chicago we knew we were doomed into PU-ness when we came across the 2005 Fleetwood Niagara.  At the Kramers Kampers display at the show.  The same dealer we got our Coleman from.  See I told you they get you one the come-back.  We did what any PU-coholic would do [or at least us] we traded in and got the 2005.   :D

I find myself poping it up on my days off and sitting inside dreaming of the next trip.  I can't help it.  Sometime I swear it talks to me saying, "Tow me somewhere and enjoy". :screwy:

Being a PU-coholic now I will camp enjoy and meet new people and see new places.  There are nopeople attending meetings  just places to attend to meet people.  If you want to avoid happiness and meeting fun people and fire at night stay away from Rv shows.  The tenter in me is still here but now he has AC, aa bathroom, Heater, shower, and more. :-()

 :U Hell be a PU-coholic it's great  :D

I wish.  :(

I'm so jealous of all you peole who can go visit your PUs.  Mine's a little far away .... for now.

Back in 2001 I convinced the kids' dad that it would be fun to rent a PU and take a 2-week road trip.  It was!  We went to a family reunion in North Dakota and then on to Great Falls MT.

In 2002 we bought a new-to-us PU.  A 1998 Palomino.  We took that on a road trip to Wyoming and other points west as well as on a couple local trips.

In 2003 we camped with new friends met here at PUT.  First in Indiana and then in Minnesota.  We also took a long road trip to the southwest.  Unfortunately we separated shortly after that and I lost the trailer in the settlement.

In 2004 I took the kids camping in MT for 5 nights in a tent. (DS wanted to know how we were going to have AC!) and then borrowed the PU back for a few weekends ~ for a total of 9 more nights.

This year I am buying a new-to-me PU and will pick it up in Ohio when I meet up with my "Camping Family" ~ all people I have met here.  (See the Ohio Rally thread in the Rallies Forum)  The kids are so excited about this trip and seeing old friends ~ and meeting new ones.  I can hardly wait to see the looks on their faces when they actually see the new trailer!!

Is it June yet?  :D

I too am a pu-coholic. How do I know this? I subscribe to PUT, I spend a great deal of time on this message board learning from all of you. I follow-up and ask my husband if our pu has this feature too. I have also learned to hitch, set up, take down and pull my pu. I have even mastered backing it up!

We camped at south carlsbad state beach this last weekend. We met old friends there and what was the topic of choice for me? You bet my pu. I think I could almost be a sales person because now 2 tenter are converting to pop-up owners.

All kiding aside, getting my pop-up has given me the freedom to schedule more camping trips with the boys than before. Now if my husband can't get time off from work it is okay because I'm a pu momma.

I'm a PU-coholic.

It is 3:46am, and I have to get up at 5:45am, and I'm on PUT. (I have already slept a little, so don't worry, I won't kill anybody at work today).

You think you got it bad?  My DS pleads to watch the "camping movie" before he goes to bed, in place of a story.  What's that you say?  You don't know the "camping movie?"  Sure you do...it's the one that the Coleman dealers gave to purchasers of a brand new PU and it shows you how to set up your camper.  I try to tell him it's not a camping movie, but a video on how to set up the camper, and he tells me that's it's a camping movie to him.  Then when he goes to bed, he pretends his bed is the front bunk and that our house is the PU!!  The downstairs bathroom is the "bathhouse" and the kitchen is the "galley."  The living room is the campground, of course.
The kid's got it bad...and he's only 4!!! :J

I used to be a PU-coholic. I am now a hic...hic....hic.... hybrid-aholic.

The only downfall of owning a hybrid is that you spend so much time in it in the winter, you miss the anticipation and satisfaction of opening it up in the spring!!!

But I can deal with it:)

Yes, I too, am a PU-coholic! There! I admitted it!
You know, it is nice to know there are others in this world who are just as crazy about their PUs as we are. We have slept in the trailer while it was parked on the street in front of the house.
Good news-Right now is perfect camp weather for those of us living in south TX
Bad news- our "baby" is in the shop with an A/C roof leak so no camping till we get it back.....Sniff!
