The DW has been pushing for a trip to SC, and she wants to visit this campground. Being the wise husband that I am, I have agreed.

We'll be arriving sometime before the middle of July. (Our exact itinerary is uncertain at this point.) Will I need reservations?

If so, can you reserve specific sites? If so, what would be the sites you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

I think you may be too late for any of SC beaches in July or any other time this summer.  You may get lucky though since the reservation system is new this year.  Here is the link to make reservations.

http://www.reserveamerica.com/  The park phone number is 843-237-4440.

As to sites, we liked 112, 114, 116, 119, 121, 122, & 127.  These are the farthest from the beach but have lots of privacy.  For closer to the beach we like 5 and 12.  Keep in mind that none of the sites are directly on the beach.

Good luck,
Susan

I, too, am looking for a place to camp on the coast of the Carolinas.  If any one else has suggestions, websites, ect...please let me know.

slowpez,

Thank you SO MUCH for your reply. Earlier today I went to the ReserveAmerica site to see what might be available. There were many, many sites. This evening I went back to see it again and there were far fewer available. Panic! So we went ahead and made reservations for four nights. We probably would have missed out on the opportunity if you hadn't scared me into action. Thanks! We'll be seeing your lovely state in a couple of months!
