Hello (Again) -

Have been off the board(s) for a while.  Was an active member several years ago, but took a break for a while.  We are now considering replacing our 2002 Coleman Bayside with a hybrid - Travel Star 21 SSO is the leading contender at this point.  We'll be towing it with the 2003 4Runner (V6) that is rated at 5000# towing capacity.  I'm somewhat concerned that we will be pushing the abilities of the 4Runner pulling the 21 SSO.  We presently use a anti-sway bar with the Bayside (you know those Colemans).  Will we need a WDH with the SSO?  Comments and/or thoughts will be appreciated.

Welcome back! What was your screen name before?

I am not an expert, but I do study the weights of trailers. The 21SSO weighs in at around 3500# DRY, with no accessories, clothes, food, etc. It could gross at 5000. I just bet this would be a pretty tough pull for the Yota. I drove my FIL's Yota pickup, also with a 5K rating. It would pull it, but it would be a lot of work for it. If I were you, I'd consider a bigger TV, or a popup.

well from one who has the starcraft 21sso and love it may i add. we had chevy astro v6 4.3 4wd  5000lb tow rate,
It towed ok, but the long grades over the mountains put it to the test. We have both the wdh and the stab bar. we installed a tranmission cooler and gauge to watch it over the hills of the virginas! we also lifted the rear with two leaf springs.

I recommend traveling light, also keep the tanks empty while traveling.
