Bag Awning Questions--Need Help

Hi All,

I just opened the Coleman awning on my "new to me" camper and a few questions have come up:

1) Has anyone had to replace the bag itself.  The awning cleaned up like new but the bag has seen better days.

2) Are there suppose to be clips or something that hold the horizontal support arms/poles to the camper top.  I have three arms/poles with blue "pegs" at either end that get inserted into the holes at end of the awning where the vertical poles are...but there isn't a place for the other end to go on the camper top side by the bag.  Am I missing something or doing something wrong??

3) Are there still screens made to fit these?  If so, where's the best place to get them at.

Thanks a ton for all your help.

1.  Yes you can have the bag replaced.  You can take it to a boar or car upholstery place and have it done.

2.  On the two Coleman/Fleetwood trailers I have owned there were 3 loops of cotton webbing inside the awning bag that you put the end of the awning poles through (against the roof).  The only thing the loops do, is to help hold the ends of the poles in place if there is wind.  The poles are really held in place by pressure.

3.  Yes you can get a screen room or advanced add a room (AAR) for your trailer.  You can get them from a Fleetwood dealer or look on line.  Sometimes you can get a deal on eBay or here in the for sale section.:)

Dwayne,

Several years ago I used Arizona Veterans Upholstery in Mesa. Their phone number is 480-898-1133. We used them for our work and they did a great job for us.  If you are a veteran they will give you a discount.  They are located on Main street between Gilbert Rd and Lindsay, right next to Mesa Sales which has all kinds of materials and vinyls for any RV, Car or Boat . I am not sure if that is too far for you to go.

Hope this helps you out.

Thanks all for the help.

Those cotton loops are long gone.  I'll have to either get some made or make up something myself.  I have a few things I need to resolve as well but nothing too major.

I have a couple of weeks to figure something out. We're heading up to Knoll Lake as a pre-run to get used to our new camper.

Then we have three more weeks to work out any bugs before we head out on our big trip up the CA coast.  LA, Big Sur, SF and Jedediah Smith SP.  2-1/2 weeks of Big fun!!!

I'm sure we'll be talking more before we leave.

Is the Plantation one of the 12' boxes with a shorter side wall?

Dwayne N

The box on our Plantation is the fullsize 13' box, 26' OAL.
