This was the first time out for our 'new to us' 2001 Starcraft 2101..we put up the awning, but had some strong winds in the morning..twice we 'lost' the awning onto the roof of the trailer.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to secure the awning so this does not happen? The Tech who did the demo for us said a lot of people 'lose' the awning onto the roof in winds, and it is best to take it down if it gets windy..  He also said having the Screen Room would solve the problem.  Any ideas on that?

Need to be very careful about setting up the awning when it's windy. My owner's manual says not to put the thing up in winds greater than 15 mph. My own experience is that the awning got away from me during a real gusty wind and it  blew up on the roof of the camper and the heavy awning cross bar punched a hole in the aluminum exterior roof. Good thing for duct tape as that's what patched the roof temporrarily until I got back home and could make a more  permanent repair.

For my '99 Starcraft, there's a catch at the bottom of the uprights where tent stakes can be used to anchor to the ground. In addition, there are already drilled holes at the ends of the awning crossbar where lines can be attached for tying the awning off for additional security. I never have the awning out but what it's secured just in case another gusty wind might come up. AND, I just don't put the thing out if it's windy or I know some gusty wind is predicted.
