Weighing Dealer's asking $$ with the "not many out there" problem!

Hi All -

Was wondering how many of you have run into finding the trailer you've been looking for, but having to deal with "the dealer is asking way too much"?

We have been looking for a smaller Hi-Lo (for ease of storage on our side yard & towing) and it seems that the Hi-Lo's out here go faster than a dealer has time to clean them up (used units) and put them on their lots.  Last week at a local Hi-Lo/Airstream dealer we found a 22' 1993 unit is pretty great shape.

The problem?  Nada shows a high of around of $5900 and the dealer was asking $8995!  We offered $6500 and were told "No Way!"  After back & forth negotiations this past week, we have them down to $7500.

My husband & I are going back & forth trying to decide "how much" we want this trailer with "Are we gonna be ticked off if we feel we've paid too much?".

Anyone out there been thru this type of situation?????

I was wondering if any of you have found a trailer

I haven't been through that situation but I can say this, when we were looking for a camper a Hi-Lo sounded like a good idea. The problem is, to buy a new one is big $$$$. So I don't think there are as many out there as say a travel trailer or pop-up, therefore that gives the dealer the go-ahead to charge whatever they want. Simply put: Supply and Demand at it's finest. So my guess is that if you want a Hi-Lo be prepared to shell out the $$$ to a dealer or maybe get lucky and find a private seller. Good luck!!

P.S.-  If you want a TT or Pop-Up I recommend Antlers RV in Phoenix.  Dave(the owner) is awsome and they treat you good there.Even after the sale is made.
