We are tent camping at Hermit Island Campground this weekend. We are taking tomorrow off and heading over. Of course after boiling with 85 to 90 degree tempuratures with 300% (or so it seemed) humidity last weekend, it looks like we'll be lucky to see a high of 50 and an end to the rain!
Then (of course) planning my meals of Steamers and Lobster for Friday Night and then Lobster and Steamers for Saturday Night, I find out that they are suffering from a rather serious bout of Red Tide in Maine!!!
I guess the menu may have to change to Lobster and Lobster on Friday and then Lobster and Lobster on Saturday and LOTS of snuggling in sleeping bags in the tent to stay warm in between!
Does anyone know how much Vitamin E is in Lobster?
Have a great weekend everyone!

Enjoy the trip.  DS would vote for the lobster and lobster any day.:)

Hmm, looks like 6% of Daily Value. I would suggest eating 4 at each meal.:D

The red tide is only in certain areas. Rest assured, if you can buy clams, buy them they will be safe. As you know, I will be at Acadia NP all next week and I favor clams over lobsters and I am sure going to have some steamers at my campsite!!!

I heard about that too, but the report I heard said that lobsters are not affected by it.  Let us know, as we are headed up to Maine later on in the summer and I am planning on lobster at least twice a day.

As a slight hijack, back in colonial times, indentured and regular servants went on strike and one of their demands was they NOT be fed lobster more than 3 times a week. Like Soul food, what was once garbage is now haute cusine.

We had a great weekend, despite temps in the LOW 50's during the day and mid 40's at night!
No Red Tide in the area we camped so had DELICIOUS steamers! The Lobster was very good too, but we knew we could get that as it's not affected, but good Steamers are some of the best eatin' there is!
Couldn't do much hiking as the trails were pretty muddy, but did some great paddling around that section of Casco Bay/Cundy's Harbor!
Can't wait to go back!
