After reading the menu for O'Neill last night, it got me craving....I had to do Italian tonight!  We had lasagna.  Yummy!

Lisa

Chez Way

Hey campers,

Looks like this rally is definitely in the planning stages now!  Hmmm....how about Italian(?) tri-tip and fruit salad for the Chez Way contribution.  Glad to hear that we have new additions to the group since I was last on-line.  Welcome everyone!

Karen and I about choked when we first heard the rules for O'neill campground but then realized that we can always drink out of a cup instead of directly out of the Tequila bottle (right, Wes? ;) )

We have been on a non-camping vacation at Jackson Hole, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons for the last week.  We flew into Jackson Hole (Jim and I would not have survived a 22 hour drive with our kids) and we stayed at Lake Lodge right on Yellowstone Lake.  It was absolutely amazingly beautiful.  Even though we had scattered rain and thunder storms for 4  of the days--it doesn't stop us ScCampers.  We saw 2 grizzly bears, 2 black bears, a lot of elk, and a ton of bison (we learned not to call them buffalo).  We saw amazing waterfalls and incredible geological stuff (mud volcanoes, hot springs, geysers, etc.) We also went on a sunset tour around Yellowstone lake in a 1937 touring car...too cool.

It looks like we missed another great Pismo rally...I'm thinking we'll make it next year because Jim won't be celebrating a big b'day for another decade or so!

3 weeks to go!  Happy 4th everyone.

Hey Lisa, that sounds yummy! I already want your recipe--can it be made in a DO? ;)

Jeanne--Sounds like you had a great trip except for maybe the bears! :) We did miss you at Pismo and we'll hold you to your proise to be there next year!! Karen--you and Wes too!

I know I had mentioned tie-dyeing t-shirts with the kids at Campland, but we plan on taking Griffy to Sea World all day Saturday and so won't be at the cg to do any tie-dyeing during that rally. It might be fun to do this at ONeill. Anyone up for a little 60s flashback? :eyecrazy: :D I think Wal-Mart has kits that will do about 5 to 8 t-shirts. Let me know if this sounds like something you'd like to do and I can pick up some kits for us. :)

We regretfully have to bail on this camp out.  We have too many irons in the fire right now with work and other stuff.  As the CEO, I have left all of the "Fish Squad" duties to President Dee.  I'm sure she will make me proud.  She will also fill everyone in on some of the ideas we have come up with regarding the "Fish Squad".

I will make you Proud..and Lori-the Vice Prez will make sure i don't slack on my duties :!

Lori-

Of course you can have the recipe for the chicken manicotti...but you will have to see if there is a way to adjust it to a DO!  I am doing it the ol' conventional oven way.  And, my kids would love to tie-dye....we actually tried to tie-dye shirts last weekend for the 4th of July---I thought it would be cute for our neighborhood parade--they ended up purplish.  So, I am sure they would love another chance!

Lisa

Chez Way

Lori,

Actually the bears were cool (over 100 yards away--both kids became jr. rangers so we followed the rules).

Sign us up for tie dye...2 please.  Sounds like fun.  Do we bring our own shirts?

Dee4j

OHhhhh, Dee...my dreaded "moving the furniture around story". My heart sank just to be reminded of it. Kyle would absolutely KILL me if he knew I had shared that around with you guys. OH how I hate my babies growing up...Did I just say that??!! NO WAY...grow up grow up grow up...just leave me out of this gross stuff ha ha ha.

Just you wait, Dee...you'll get your turn too.

As for tie dye...you can probably count my kids out (as we all have a bazillion tie die shirts because of Kyle), but Kyle can help you with any ideas or with actually helping the kids. Tie dye is his business...and he does it at kids parties too. If you have any questions send them over...I'll ask Kyle.

I'll dig out my face painting stuff...that'll help keep the kiddy's busy too.

Yes, bring your own shirts or whatever it is that you want to tie-dye. Kerry--that would be great if Kyle would like to help.  I'll take all the help I can get!  And the face-paints are a great idea too! :D

I picked up 2 kits. The box says that it will do 8 projects, but then it mentions something about refilling the dye bottle with water when it's half gone. Hmmm...I'm not into half-hearted, diluted tie-dye, so I think I'll pick up a couple more boxes, just in case. :) Once the shirts are dyed, they will need to soak for at least 8 hours before we can rinse them out, so let's plan on doing this right after breakfast on Saturday morning.

darksiders

hey gang,
ok, i've been catching up on all the posts... we've been away on vacation over the 4th...went to Sandpoint, Idaho to visit family.  they just bought  a log house on 13 acres. I'ts very pretty up there. There's a huge lake, Lake Ponderay. Did some boating, site seeing & relaxing.
And came back to a crazy busy job this past week at work while my asst. was out on vacation.
anywho, suffice it to say, I'm really looling forward to some camping!
The menu looks very yummay.  I'll add bruchetta to the dinner.
Are we doing a potluck for breakfast?

oh, and Dee, make our cups red!!! ...keepin it on the down-low ;)

For the Saturday breakfast potluck I'll bring sausage and bacon and Darksiders will bring a pastry type thing.

And for the big news...we will be bringing our new camping pal---Sadie, an 11 month old black Lab.  We just adopted her from Pet Orphans on Sunday.  If you want to check out our adoption photo go http://petorphans.org/dogs.htm and scroll down to Shawna (that was her temporary name).

YEEEHAAAA!!!  3 more days!  I guess it is time to check out mapquest to figure out where we are going!

Jeanne congratulations on your new family member.  She is adorable.  They had so many cute dogs it must of been hard to choose.
