For those that plan on moving to or live in Florida (or not...)

Living in Florida

We're about to enter the peak of the hurricane season. Any day now, you're goi

ROTFL!!  and posted by someone living in New Jersey!!!

I must admit that last year Mexico was looking really good!!  And not the gulf coastline.

I just finished drinking the water I bought for last year's supplies.

I have been through fourteen hurricanes in my life in South Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean.... That's enough for one lifetime..........

I have one question; Why would one move from "Hurricane Alley" (Florida), to "Tornado Alley" (Nebraska) ?

I think that's why the snowbirds go to Canada.

Very funny, though.

Some people just love to be abused by the weather.........

Well, I just dodged the bullet with Hurricane Dennis...we were very lucky that it wasn't any worse than it was.  What a long day though.  For once it came through during the day and not at night!

Glad to hear you are safe.......

Click on the 3 differant links that say Panama City.  It's amazing to see some of the feeder bans coming through.  Unreal.

Quote from: jpreiser...Hurricane-proof windows: These are the newest wrinkle in hurricane protection: They look like ordinary windows, but they can withstand hurricane winds! You can be sure of this, because the salesman says so. He lives in Nebraska.

The windows are made in Minnesota, so we all pray for hurricanes.  While you are watching the guy in the slicker trying to stand by the beach, we are watching the guy at the window factory being told they are too busy for an interview because of the hurricane.  :)

QuoteHURRICANE SUPPLIES:
If you don't evacuate, you will need a mess of supplies. Do not buy them now! Florida tradition requires that you wait until the last possible minute, then go to the supermarket and get into vicious fights with strangers over who gets the last can of SPAM. In addition to food and water, you will need the following supplies:

Sounds like just before a blizzard here in Minnesota, except we never run out of SPAM.  That's because they make SPAM here in Minnesota.  There is even a SPAM museum in Austin, Minnesota.  With all of the cities in Minnesota, why did they have to put the SPAM museum in a city named after me? :yikes:

BTW, do you know how to never run out of SPAM?  It's easy.  Buy one can of SPAM.  Put it on the shelf.  You will never run out.

Quote$35,000 in cash or diamonds so that, after the hurricane passes, you can buy a generator from a man with no discernible teeth.

No point in buying the generator here in Minnesota.  After the blizzard, it will turn so cold that the gasoline the generator is supposed to run on resembles vasoline.

QuoteOf course these are just basic precautions. As the hurricane draws near, it is vitally important that you keep abreast of the situation by turning on your television and watching TV reporters in rain slickers stand right next to the ocean and tell you over and over how vitally important it is for everybody to stay away from the ocean.

I've never figured out why the weather reporters here in Minnesota insist on doing their reports outside during a blizzard.  If you can explain that to me, then I have some other questions for you.
