Leaking Sink Trap

I posted this under the Viking forum yesterday, thought I'd try Mr Fix It as well.

The sink trap in my new Viking has a small metal thumb screw in the bottom of the plastic sink trap. I assume this is for draining the trap during the winterization steps? Whenever we use the sink, for some time thereafter this drips (until the trap empties). I have tried the tube pipe compound as well as Teflon tape. Neither of these solution stops the drip completely, so I must keep a towel under the sink. Any suggestions????

Its stupid question time.

1.  Are you sure that is where it is leaking from?  Not from somewhere up above and trickling down and off the screw?

2. If it is indeed at the screw and plumbers putty and teflon tape don't stop it I can't help but wonder if the pipe is not cracked where the screw fits in.

That's where I would start.  After that I'd wonder if the screw was the right size or maybe a problem with the threads or ?

Did you buy this camper new or used?  If used, is it possible that the previous owner ran the screw in the bottom of the trap to try to plug a leak and cracked the trap by doing so, or does the screw in there look to be origional?

New camper and yes I am almost postive it is from the screw.  I will call the dealer.  Thanks
