We are not camping though.  Through my husband's work he is in the Hilton Honors rewards and gets points when he stays at Hampton Inn.  So we are using his points to go to Myrtle Beach from Friday to Monday.  It is great to be able to go somewhere and not have to worry about paying.  This is the third time we have used his points, works out great.

Can't wait to go, I'm more excited than the kids.  I have been going since I was six weeks old.  Momma and Daddy used a drawer out of a dresser to make me a bed then, so I have been told.  And we have gone every year since then, maybe missing one or two out of 44 years.  It feels like home away from home.  Lots of memories, hope to make more this weekend.

Ya'll take care and we will check back in on Monday.  Have a great weekend.

Got back from our trip today.  We got so lonely without our camper that we spent part of a day visiting CG's.  The trip was good, the girls really enjoyed theirselves.  I am tired, even got a blister on my foot.  The girls now want to live there, but they will get over that.  Glad to be home.

That's so funny...DH and I rented a cottage on one of our vacations last year.. we spent more time driving around campgrounds just looking at places to camp in the future that we realized we just didn't want to be without our camper.  :>

I was so looking forward to the trip.  But it was a let down.  We were on the seventh floor, so there was no way just to step outside and let the kids play.  We usually left the room around 9:30 and come back for lunch then go back out and come in around 4pm to shower and get ready to go eat dinner.  Then do whatever afterward.  It was just a hassle to carry everything everywhere and then have to carry it back to the room.

I really should not be complaining but it just wasn't the same.

I can't tell you how many times we wanted something that we didn't have and one of us would say.....  "oh yeah, but there's one in the camper that we don't have with us"   LOL

So, which CG's were your favorites? We generally use Myrtle Beach Travel Park because it's the easiest to get to coming from the Wilmington area.

Glad you had a good time!

My little popup has some very comfy sleeping bunks; and I sleep like a log in them. For whatever reasons, I do not sleep well in a strange bed, especially for the first night or two and when I do sleep I'm guessing that's because of exhaustion! For that reason I always like to tow along the camper whenever possible. ALSO ... I just like being around my "stuff" at night.

We have always stayed at Apache CG.  The main reason is because it was so small and I felt safer with small children (2 and 3 years old at the start), plus it is in the area that we like to stay at.  The only drawback was the bath houses weren't air conditioned, but at the time that was okay because I had peace of mind.  We went back and visited Apache and it has changed some what and I believe that management may have changed somewhat, not sure.  It was okay, but still have the same bathrooms.

Then we went to visit Myrtle Beach Travel Park, which we have visited before.  But this time was different, my brother had went down earlier this year and stayed there and really liked it.  Plus with us traveling with a 5 and 6 year old we had to make a pit stop.  So we decided to try out their bathrooms.  I really didn't think there would be that much of a difference, but I was wrong.  It was tiled, BIG, and very clean.  Since it is still in the same area that we like to stay, North Myrtle Beach, from now on I know we will stay here.  The sites are also bigger.

We have visited Lakewood, Pirateland, and Ocean Lakes, but just prefer the northside to the southside.  No rhyme or reason for it, or maybe it is because as a child my parents ALWAYS stayed in Ocean Drive area.

When they added hwy 22, that made a world of difference in getting to North Myrtle for us.

Not much shade is there? and not on the beach?

If you want to stay beach front, there is no shade at any of them.  But I know that Apache and MB Travel Park do have shaded sites a bit further back.  That is not where I stay, but always seems to be full.
