 I recently purchased a new to me 2002 coleman bayside trailer.  I was going through all the things included with the trailer and also reading the owners manual.  The manual talks in great length about the importance of a break away switch.  I was planning on adding one even before we picked up the trailer.  As it turns out, I found one in the box of things from the previous owner.  I have a couple of questions I hope you guys can help with.

1. Can the switch be mounted anywhere?  Specifically, Is there any problem with drilling into the frame to mount the switch as I cannot find a hole already in the frame.  I know on some vehicles, drilling in the frame can cause a severe structural weakness.

2. There appears to be six holes on the left side of the a-frame.  I am assuming they are pre-drilled holes for a sway controller (which I don't have).  Assuming I can get the plastic plugs out, can I use one of those holes?

3. Once I get the switch mounted, am I correct in hooking one wire to the blue wire coming out of the a-frame next to the battery connector and the other to the positive battery terminal?

Thanks in advance for the help!

1. Yes you can drill into the frame to mount it. It is normally mounted on top of the frame. Mine is back close to the battery.

2. Yes the holes are for a friction sway control bar. I wouldn't mount the brake away switch in one of them. They are bigger and on the side of the frame not the top. You might want to bet a sway bar.

3. One wire does mount tot he positive side of the battery, the other to the blue wire.  You got that right.
