Furnace on 1988 Coleman

Hello everyone, I have a 1988 Coleman Sequoia that we bought in the spring. I have done alot of work getting it set-up the way I want and now I have a question.
 I am not sure how to lite the furnace? Everyone I talk to says it should be automatic. I am told you just turn on the gas, turn the thermostat to on and turn it all the way up. I have done that earlier this summer and the blower did kick on but I didnt leave the furnace on very long. (I didnt think it was automatic) I do know under the cover for the heater is a click type ignitor, but I was told this is a back up to the auto.
 If anyone has had or has a older coleman with a furnace like this any insight would be appreciated.

1 did you hear the auto start clicking?
2 It still may auto start but might have issues

Is there a switch on the face of the furnace (under the cover)?  Who made the furnace?  You might be able to get the directions online from the manufacturer.
