Southern MN/Northern IA Gathering

There is a small group of us meeting at Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park in southeastern Minnesota the first weekend in October ... arriving Friday October 7th, departing on the 9th.

I am in site 68.  It's a nice little park and the colors are usually pretty good that weekend ~ not peak, but still really nice.  We always do the cave tour and a little hiking ~ mostly we relax and enjoy our last outing of the season.

We were there last fall about that time, and it was nice.  The colors might be just past peak, depending on the weather, but still spectacular.

I've only ever camped at the group camp at that park. We do like that park though.

We will also be looking for a season ending camp out around that weekend, so maybe we'll come and join you.

I'd love to but it's a bit far for a 3 day weekend. Ill be at Potato Creek State Park in Indiana Sept 9-11th. Site #159. If anyone's in the area feel free to drop by.......:!

With a wedding two weeks before, we will not make firm plans until later, but we will let you know when we finally decide.

We're trying to drag Bill Gee (a.k.a. GeeMan - runs the IRC chat)  into this as well, but it's a bit far for him for a weekend (Missouri).

Thanks for the invite Kelly but dw and I should be somewhere around Memphis or Savannah that weekend  if I don't have to sell the kiwi to pay for the gas to get home.

Wish we could make it but DD starts gymnastics competition season & almost every weekend in October is taken with a meet.  We camped there about 2 years ago & really liked the campground.  We were there earlier in the summer & did some of their nature programs, the cave & toured the Forestville site.  For anyone interested in bicycling there is an awesome trail not far from this state park that goes across a major portion of Minnesota.
