We spent a week in August at Country Acres campground in Gordonville, PA, in the heart of Amish country.

The campground is basically in two parts, with a pop-up/tent section that is heavily treed and a much more open section for RVs.  Most of the treed section has back-in sites with water and 20-amp electric.  The RV section has pull-through sites, 30 and 50-amp electrical, water, and sewer.  There are also some tent-only sites and two cabins. The actual parking sites are on a gravel surface.  We were in site 847, and were directed to enter the wrong way in order to be able to back into the site.  Several other sites in that section were similar.

The attachments are of our site and a pull-through site.  Our site was a little larger than typical.  The photo of the pull-though site shows the picnic pavillion and volleyball field in the background.  The game room is nearby.

They have a large group picnic pavillion, small store (but full groceries are within 3-4 miles), small game room (it looks like a large shed), a dump station, and a laundry room.

The restrooms and showers were very clean, among the cleanest I've ever seen.  No charge for showers.

The campground is in the heart of Amish country.  Don't be taken in by the big colorful signs claiming to be "Authentic Amish."  None of that stuff is.  If  you really want a feel for what is Amish, go to the Mennonite Information Center and hire a guide.  He/she will take you on a driving tour in your vehicle and will stop at actual Amish shops making and selling actual Amish goods at a price that will not be beat.  The Mennonite Information Center also has a full-size reproduction of the Biblical Tabernacle that is worth the price.

There is one warning you should have.  This campground (like all campgrounds in the area) is near a highway (US 30).  If you are sensitive to traffic noise, be aware that it will go on all night.  Other campgrounds we drove by in the area were closer to the highway than Country Acres, so this is probably the best bet.  There is also a rail line nearby, but I didn't hear any train whistiles after 10 PM.

Overall, I give it two thumbs up.

My husband and four children just spent the weekend at Country Acres in our StarCraft PopUp, and had a BLAST!  We stayed there once before, and moved from a site close to the "Almost Paradise" gift shop (near rt. 30), to one of the sites you wrote about... MUCH better!  The bathrooms ARE very clean and brightly lit.  We actually like it SO MUCH there that we've reserved two weeks there consecutively this summer!!  It doesn't hurt that my parents and one brother live in Strasburg, just 10 minutes away (Strasburg Railroad, Sight & Sound Theatre, RockVale Outlets all nearby!)  They went to a "Lancaster Barnstormers" game (minor league baseball) and loved that, too (fireworks after the game!)

I really don't think you can go wrong at this place (the only warning is, they don't sell coffee in the morning... which is only a big deal to coffee adicts like me!!!  They sell coffee MUGS, but no coffee!)
