Okay, well, the tv show is a go for November 18-19, but although they were planning to take us to Joshua Tree, they have found out that they don't allow filming in the park at all, so that location is out!  So now they're asking us if we have anyplace we'd particularly like to go.

Any suggestions for some favorite cg's within 2-3  hours of L.A. that won't be buried in snow during November?  I think they're looking for some kind of "unique" locations; something that sets the place apart.  For example, their first trip was to Campland, so the beach is out, and you all know about Dee's Grand Canyon trip.

I think Joshua Tree fit the bill for them in the way of an interesting location.  They were originally wanting some "mountain" camping, but decided it would be too cold. So far our only suggestion is Kernville, but we're thinking even that might be too cold.

So ante up with your suggestions for "unique" locations you'd all like to see us at on TV!

Lake Casitas, Vail Lake, San Mateo in San Clemente.

OC Campers

Like Dave, I was thinking Lake Casitas.  Or how about that campground in Santa Paula?   What about Vail Lake?

I can't wait to see all our friends on TV!

Well, Vail Lake would certainly be our first choice, but I'm thinking there's nothing really that sets it apart from anywhere else. (except it's our favorite!)  There's no descriptive term I could think of that makes it a "destination" in and of itself, which, I think, is what they're looking for.

Same for Casitas, I think.  It's been a few years since we were there, though.

I could be completely wrong about what they're looking for, too.  I guess I should give them a call and clarify.

Meanwhile, if anyone knows any "destination" type places, let me know!

Tracy, you're looking for "destination," and Vail Lake has the stables your son loves (being a city kid, he doesn't get to ride very often, I'm sure), miniature golf, the pool (although November will be cold I'm sure) and nearby wineries to tour.  Sounds like a pretty good destination.  And you could check the Temecula city website to see if there's any activities going on in the area at that time.  You might get lucky and find a balloon festival or city celebration or something.  You can show them camping doesn't have to have tons of activities to do (that's why it's not called Las Vegas!!), but just being together, relaxing, playing Uno till the wee hours of the morning is what it's all about!

Hi Tracy & David,
Being from LA & living in central Calif. I would consider these places. It might be another hour tacked on but it's your call. Hey if you decided on one in our area, we would love to be your neighbor at the camp site!
Here are the central valley ideas:
  1. Yosemite.
  2. Yosemite pines RV resort. 19 miles outside the park entrance. (website).
  3. Quail valley RV park. 1 hour north of Bakersfield. A real nice place. ( website)
  4. Rivernook campground. Kernville.
  5. Indian hills ranch RV park. Tehachapi. We were just there! See pictures @
either the Viking's or DK3's webshot post's from this last trip there.

Now for places closer to you:

  1. Camp Williams. (website). In  Azusa, Calif. It has a nearby ORV park!
  2. East shore RV park. San Dimas. By puddingstone lake. (website).
  3. Orangeland RV park. City of Orange. Close to Disneyland! (website).
  4. Woods valley Kampground. Escondido. (website).
That's it for now. Miss you guys. Theresa says hi to Allison.
