Thinking of buying a popup camper ,but the owner said that the cable was snapped. I don't know $2000. for a 10 ft. 1995 rockwood pop up with pull out screen porch ,gas, elec. fridge sink and lp furnace pictures look nice but the cable scares me . Where to get one and how difficult to replace.Any suggestions?

Since no has else responded to your question, I will give it the old college try.

You didn't mention if it was one of the four corner lift cables or the main lift cable.

But in most cases, cable replacements are not too bad a task.

My recommendation is to contact Rockwood, and have them send you a diagram of that particular lift system.

If it's a simple winch system and the main cable snapped, they are pretty easy to replace. It may take you a couple of people to raise the roof manually, and support the roof using 2 X 4's in each corner to support it.

Once you have located the snapped cable, either Rockwood will be able to supply the exact OEM cable, or do what I did..... contact //www.canvasreplacements.com for the replacement cable. They were great when the main cable snapped on my SIL 78' Palomino. They sent the OEM replacement cable, the operating and maintanance diagram, and shipped the cable for $ 29.00. Took us just under two hours to replace it. Once you are done, lubricate and adjust all the cables in the system per the maintenance instructions.

  Hope this helps ya"

Thanks for the response .It is the main cable that snapped about 2 feet from the winch .I'll give it a try doesn't look too hard.
