How  welcome, how  silly  is  it  to  ask  it  of  you  folks  to  share  where  you  have  all  gone  how  many  miles  at  a  time  with  all  your  pop  ups  your  campers? I  went  into  the  website  of  the  crocketts  and  saw  the  air  conditioner  they  installed  into  their  pop  up.  It  appears  they  installed  it  into  the  lower  part  the  box  of  the  camper.....since  cold  air  always  falls  i  never  thought  much  of doin  that,  an  air  conditioer  isnt  better  off  in  the  roof  of  any  camper???

Many older PU can not have an AC unit installed in the roof. The roof will not support it. Roof AC units are also much more expensive, so some people opt to install a window unit instead.:)

HELLO TRACY  and  the  gamg  uhm  1st  have  checked  out  your  websites photos, very  inspirirmg  you  all  look  like  a  fun "groovis"  bunch  of  folks  all  family  or  friends  or  mixture  of  both?  WAY  TO  DO  IT!!!
Grateful  for  the  reply.  you  wrote:OLDER PU "CAN" HAVE  ROOF A/C,  then you  wrote  roof  wont  support  it. SURELY  ITS  A  TYPO  THAT  AN OLDER PU  "CANT"  HAVE?  Unless  a  person  is  really  handy  and  can  find  a  way  to  install  a  support  beam  across  the  the  roof?  The  roof  is  the  first  place  i'd  be  looking  at, with  all  the  cabinets  heaters  etc  in  the  box  of  a  pu  something  would  have  to  be  ripped out  in  sacrifice  or  compromise  FOR  a window  unit?
I  would  think  that  if  a  window  unit  WAS  insatalled  it  would  have  to  go  IN  FORNT  or  rear  so  as  not  to  stick  out  in  traffic  while  towing?

Brian-

Your Palomino's roof isn't strong enough to be retro-fitted with A/C.

Another way of installing an A/C would be to remove the drawers of the storage dresser right inside the door, then cut the vent opening on the outside. It may sound like a lot of work, but a member on another camping board did this mod to his XL, and it sounds fairly simple to do(I'm even considering doing it to mine.)

Here is the Webshot link to his XL pics-

NEVER  BE  SHY  TO CORRECT  ME PLEASE  I'LL  REPLY  IN  CAPITALS  SO  YOU  CAN  DISCERN  MY REPLY  WORDS.
HEH HEH  NOW  THAT IT  IS  ESTABLISHED  THAT  MY RIG  WILL  BE  A  SUCCESS  AND  TRIP  PREPARATIONS  ARE  UNDERWAY  A  FACT  HAS  ARISEN: I MISS  THE  FAMILY  OF  ANIMALS  ALREADY (2 dogs 3 cats)!!  AS  SHE  SAYS  NO A/C  IN  FL. IS  BAD  ENOUGH  IMPOSSIBLE  FOR  ANIMALS. SINCE  A  WINDOW  UNIT  IS  LESS  EXPENSIVE  THE  "FUN" "EASY"  PART  WOULD  BE  THE  INSTALLATION. HAVE ALWAYS WANTED  TO  PERFORM  A  JOB  LIKE  THAT.  IN  FACT  UNTIL  I  HAD  TO  ABANDON  THE  PROJECT,  THE (free)  CAMPER  BEFORE  THIS  POP UP  WAS  A  TOW  BEHIND  THAT  NEEDED  A  RESTORATION  THAT  I  COULDNT  WAIT  TO  FINISH  BUT  GOT  FORCED  TO  GIVE  UP  ON AND  JUNK (lost my  storage). THE POP UP  HAS  TEMPORARY FREE STORAGE ELSEWHERE  TILL  OCTOBER  1ST SUPPOSEDLY IN  FACT  THE  OWNER  OF  THE  ESTATE  KEEPING  MY XL  TOLD  ME  HE DROVE PAST  IT! ANYWAY:
ITS  A  WONDERFUL  SUGGESTION  TO  THIS  WINDOW THIS  WINDOW UNIT   BY  THE  DOORWAY, THAT  MEANS  THAT  THE  UNIT  WILL  BE    INSIDE  (fine with me) BUT ITS EXHAUST  HEAT  WILL  BE  VENTED  OUTSIDE. MY ONLY  QUESTION  IS:  DOSENT ADDING  THAT  MUCH  MORE  WEIGHT  THROW  THE CAMPER'S  BALANCE OFF?  SOMEHOW  I  HAVE  THAT  BALANCE  ISSUE  IN  ME.  THE  GAS  TANK  IS  IN  FRONT  SO  NOT  THERE  BUT  WHAT  OF  IN  THE  REAR  SO  THE  VENT.....WELL  THE  VENT  WOULD  BE  SEEN  RIGHT  BEHIND  THE  SPARE  TIRE. WHAT  ABOUT  THAT?
WELL  SIR  SHE  BECKONS  ME  FOR  A  SATURDAY  NIGHT  RENTED  MOVIE  SO  YOU  GET  A REPRIEVE. AS  ALWAYS  HOPEFULLY  YOU  KNOW  HOW  GRATEFUL  I  AM  FOR  YOUR   TIME, THANK  YOU!!!   oooooooops p.s. cant wait very excited to get  that website referral!
