I have an 86 coleman popup. When I am hooked up to city water the tank fills up and overfows. Is there suppose to be a checkvalve on the line to the tank?  Thaks.

I'm not familar with the '86 Coleman series so I hesitate to say what your problem might be; might be someone here with 1st hand knowledge of your particular unit and can give a more precise answer. Anyway, my previous popup was a '96 Coleman/Fleetwood Yukon series and when hooking up to city water it was necessary for me to use a pressure reducer that would limit the water pressure to 60 PSI. Without that device and with high water pressure (besides leaking), it would do all sorts of weird things. Maybe that might have something  to do with what your experiencing. Anyway, you can buy this device at any camper supply store and probably just about any dealer ... maybe even Wally-Mart has it on one of their RV "shelves".

You know, I had another thought here after I posted - you did not give a great deal of information so I just have to ask this question: On my unit there were TWO water intakes right close by each other ... the first was for a city water hook-up and the other was a gravity water fill for filling the onboard water tank. Now this gravity water fill was not fitted for a water hose connection, but I got to wondering about yours and wanted to make sure you have the correction to city water ... right?

Fly,
Yes, you are correct. I have both the city water hookup and the gravity. I will try the regulator. Thanks for your response.

There is a check valve in the line, but I do not know where it is.  My first PU was an 86 Sun Valley, but we only used the fresh water holding tank.  We never had a hose attached to it.  Sorry I couldn't help more. If you email Fleetwood they should be able to tell you where.:)

In answer to your question, there should be a one way check valve in that system.

The earlier model PU's with a hand pump at the galley, the check valve will be located in the water line between the holding tank and the city supply water line connection. The water pressure from the city supplied source closes off the valve, so it wont back up into the holding tank.

On later models with electric water pumps, the pump may act as the check valve. The pump will only allow water flow out in one direction.... unless the pump is defective.

  Hope this helps.
