Height/Cable Adjustment

The roof on my 02 Coleman Bayside doesn't seem to be quite as high as I think it should.  The manual says to crank the roof up all the way and the side canvas should be taught.  I crank the roof up until it stops, but the canvas doesn't seem taught to me.  When attaching the velcro to the door, there is a pucker somewhere along the seam on either side of the door because the strip (on the canvas) is longer than the strip on the door.  I know they are actually the same length, but because the canvas isn't taught, the starting and stopping point of the velcro is not as far apart as it should be.

Is this a cable adjustment problem and is it something I can do myself?  If it isn't a cable adjustment problem, what else might it be?

Thanks

It sounds like the cables have stretched.  There are directions in the Fleetwood owners manual on how to adjust the cables.  I have not done this myself, but it doesn't sound too hard.  If you are handy you should be able to do it.:)

Thanks doc, you seem to answer a lot of my questions....hmmmm

Just one quick question,

When the lift system stops at it's highest point, does the one piece door system slip in and the cam locks align to the grooves up in the roof?

If the height of the roof accepts the length of the door and the locks align to the tracks, it should be raising high enough.

One thing that may affect how the velcro matches up to the door frame, is if the PU is not leveled in both the side to side, and the front to back positions.

The roof is "free-floating" (will find it's own level) while the box may be out of level. The tenting attached to the roof maybe pulling in the opposite direction from the box.

   Just another possibility.

 Second quick question,

Are you the original owner of this PU, and it has been getting worse over time?

I'm the second owner, so I don't know if it has been getting worse over time.  I didn't have any problem installing the one piece door before adjusting the pulleys.  I also don't have any problem now that I have adjusted the pulleys.  The canvas does seem tighter now, so I'm hoping that solved the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions.
