Does anybody know of any good campgrounds around the southern half of The Great Sacandaga Lake in New York? I will be going to a family reunion in Amsterdam, NY next July and I need a campground to stay at. I guess it doesn't have to be at the lake. I just need somewhere that is within 30 minutes or so of Amsterdam. I just figured that the lake would be nice.

Thank you

State campgrounds include Northampton, which can get extremely crowded and noisy in the summer. You would have to make reservations at the 9-month mark (reserveamerica.com). This campground is right on the Sacandaga with the entrance off Rt. 30 just above Mayfield and below Northville.

Caroga Lake is about 30-40 minutes from Amsterdam. It's also a state campground. I haven't stayed there since I was a kid, so I don't really have much of a recollection of it.

There is a private campground at Peck's Lake, also about 30-40 minutes outside of Amsterdam.

Here's a Fulton County brochure that has some campgrounds listed:

Thank you for the suggestions-I will look into them. Have you ever heard of McConchies Heritage Acres? It is in Galway. I need something with 30 amps so that I can run A/C-must keep DW happy!

Thanks again
