Hey there,

I am wanting to camp at Elk Neck State Park the first weekend in November.  It is on the northernmost penn. of the Chesapeake Bay.  This weekend has ALWAYS been perfect!!
I have not yet made reservations.  They do have two pet loops that will be open with H20 and electric.  Any takers out there!
Let me know if you are interested.

Thank you Chip.  Has anyone camped here before?  Can you tell me about the park/campground???

We were there last year (in Oct. ) and had a very nice time. The campground is typical MD state park.  We didn't have reservations and were able to choose any spot that was vacant.   We got right next to the bathhouse and didn't use our bathroom once.    If I remember right, the roads were paved and so were the sites.  There were lots of nice little towns in the area to explore, including a canal museum.  The best part is we didn't have to go over the Chesepeake Bary Bridge.  We want to go back again.   Paula

Hey one close to Home!!!! NE MD is about 20 miles then on out to the Peninsula.
I ahve never been there...well we tried once to see, but were told that Saturdays were too busy for tours (in the summer).  I think Tim5055 was there a time or two...
We now no longer need the pet loop as Cookie is in Doggie heaven.  We have decided that there will be no more dogs.

I will see what I can do about camping with ya Sara.

Last year I spent most of Thanksgiving week at Greenbelt NP outside DC. It was cool and drizzly but did have a couple of beautiful days.

SheBantam,

Sorry to hear about Cookie. I have been here myself and afraid that Barrett is not far from doggie heaven also. Well, Elk neck is just up the road from me. 10 miles maybe.... If I am not mistaking, and I could be because my information is from years past, They have only one loop open after the 1st of November. Still lots of room....
