Advice for a fixer upper

I just purchased an older model popup camper for my fishing and hunting adventures.  It needs some tender loving care since it has been setting in the elements for quite some time.  My question concerns the cooking stove that was in the camper.  it was a propane unit that was built into the counter top.  It is no longer servicable.  However, I was planning on increasing the size of the cutout in the counter top to place my coleman portable propane stove in and use the propane hookup that was there instead of a propane bottle.  Is this an option that is feasible.  I was told to worry about carbon monoxide, and when I checked my stove, it has a warning against using inside a camper or tent, but the stove that was in the camper appears to be a regular propane stove.  Any advice would be appreciated.  Also, is there a place that sells replacement parts, specifically a small air conditioner for 100 square feet of living space.

Steve - usually the interior stoves are a low pressure type; the L/P coming into the camper goes through a regulator. Exterior stoves, like your two burner L/P Coleman (if it's like mine, anyway) is a high pressure stove. Bottom line is the high pressure types will out perform the low pressure interior ones hands down. However, they have the low pressure ones inside for good reason ... fire is still the biggest danger for a camper.

The manufacturer for the interior stove in my Starcraft is Suburban, located in Dayton, Tennessee (423-775-2131) - you might also do a google search for their website. Maybe looking into a replacement for that interior stove might be worth looking into.

Hope that helps a tad.

Welcome to PUT.

You shouldn't use an outdoor=high pressure stove inside.  It would be better to get a low pressure replacement indoor stove instead.

Good luck with the PU.  What is it?:)
