Hi, All!  Those of you who know Riley, our high-strung Labradoodle puppy, this probably won't surprise you!  He is always trying to climb our gates and fences...he has gotten boo-boo galores doing this for the past five months.  Brandon keeps trying to fix the fences to stop him...but he is goal-oriented.

Well, on Thursday, he was a-climbing, and fell....and broke one of his rear legs (his tibia, to be exact).  He spent all day yesterday at the vet.  He is in good spirits (it could be the pain-killers he is on...I checked...not for human consumption...darn!).  They put a splint on with bright orange casting material...and placed a cut out black cat face out of black casting material on it.  The vet said the bone should heal fine...he has the splint on for 6 weeks.

Ack!

OH NO!!!!  Give Riley a big HUG from us - especially Matt!  We're glad he is feeling no pain.  ;)

Boys will be boys!  Be grateful that it can be fixed.  And PRAY that he doesn't try to chew off the splint, or you might get to experience the dreaded cone collar!  My sympathies to you & your kids.  The recovery will be worse for you than Riley -- I can guarantee it.

Boy, that would be nice if they could learn a lesson, but I doubt it. You all know our dog Jelly Bean. A year or two ago she decided that she deserved some of the chocolate that Ashlee left within her reach. This dog was sicker than crap, like a knock knock knocking on heavens door sick. We called the vet, did what they told us to do and she pulled out of it. The point is, she'd do it again in a second given a chance. I caught her just the other day with her head inside Ashlee's Trick or Treat bag. So, they won't learn. I ate a Tuna sandwich once and got sick, I vowed to never eat Tuna again.....that was over 16 years ago.
We're all pulling for you Riley!!

Riley thanks you all for your well-wishes.   :) And, Brian is right....he will never learn--he had gotten himself stuck and cut many times doing the same thing...and it never stopped him.  And, he now gets to be in the house 24/7, since the vet said we can't trust him to be outside, and it seems to be suiting him just fine.  My dad says Riley finally got what he really wanted...to be in the house at all times!  He really is doing fine...but, like Laura said, it is harder on us than on him!  I will say, you all know how hyper he is...but in the house, he is really calm!  He seems at peace in the house.

We here at the Boothe house have had a tough week.  First, Riley breaks his leg....and then on Tuesday night, we don't know how, but our cat Noir disappeared.  He is an indoor cat, never let outside....he is nowhere in the house.  I have put signs up and hit the neighborhood looking for him.  It just sucks.  He is an awesome cat!  I have been a crying mess;  the girls are taking it better than I am.  We figure he got out somehow....and either someone took him home to keep or a coyote came around (I obviously would rather think that someone took him).  Either way, I am done with cats....not getting another one...I fall in love with them way too hard.

Brandon just left with the trailer and the girls to Yucaipa.  They have an Adventure Princess camping trip there this weekend.  So, I get the whole house to myself!  Yahoo!!  Well, hope you all have a super weekend...take care!
