Moving water tank

I have a 97 coleman santa fe with the fresh water tank under the dinnet seat. Has anyone with a similar setup moved the tank nuder the floor for more under seat storage?

When we had our Coleman Cape Cod, we never even used the water tank so DH removed it completely, capped off the lines and we had loads of new storage space. We kept the parts so they could be sold with the camper when that time came. We never liked using the water from the holding tank for several reasons so this made sense for us. Just our $.02 worth.

That's what a pop-uper I know did with his under the seat water tank ... simply removed it. He can still hook up to city water and use the old camper pump spigot for that water. As for dry camping, he picked-up a couple of those square, blue, potable water containers (which also have a spigot), from Wally-Mart (I think they are 3/gal?) and he sets one outside at the picnic table and the other on the counter next to the itty-bitty sink, on it's side and with the spigot over that sink. Anyone wanting a drink or maybe make a pot of tea in the middle of the night, simply turns the spigot and is in business. Sure makes sense to me ... the portable containers are easy to fill and clean out afterwards, and he's got more storage space.

It could be done, but the tank would have to fit in among the frame, lift system, etc under the camper.  You would also have to see where the fill hose and water lines play into the picture.  Good luck on the project.

Seems to me filling and using the 7 gallon containers with a spigot would be a whole lot easier.  They're cheap at WalMart.  Refilling a container onsite when you run out of water while camping would also be a lot easier than trying to get extra water down that little hole just so you can pump it into your sink using up precious battery power.

We don't use our camper sink for much more than cooking and dishwasing anyway.  We use city water when we have hookups and the 10 gallon on board tank if we don't have water hookup available.    We always carry a separate supply of water, usually a 2.5 gallon bottle of spring water for drinking.

Sounds like a great idea to me.  I might just try it myself the next time we're camping without water hookups.  I'd love to get rid of that tank.  It would also eliminate almost all of our winterizing process.  I could use the pump wiring for 12v outlets in the camper.  But then would I have to turn on the water to power my accessories?      Only kidding there!

This was more interesting than my water tank question. So I didn't mind the turn the thread took.
My sister inlaw has a '99 santa fe with the tank under (got it right) the floor. The job doesn't look to hard to do. I have all winter to plan.
