I just got a Garmin e-trex GPS for an early Christmas gift.  My daughter and I found two caches today.  We can't wait to go camping and look for more stuff.

Congratulations on the GPS!! Join the club - Laura, Lori, Griffin, and I love to go geocaching. We had a great time finding treasure in San Diego when we all stayed at Campland. And by the way, Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!

Ooohh ... you're hooked, now!  Geocaching is really, really fun!  I hope you don't wait to camp, though.  I bet you'll find tons of caches close enough to keep you busy for a long time.  Getting the kids involved is great, too.  They have this natural ability to "look outside of the box", and sometimes find the caches before you do.  Make sure you check out geocaching.com & all of its links -- there's lots of good info. out there!

Merry Christmas!

Once you have found some conventional sized Tupperware or coffee can sized caches, try some Micro-Caches.  They can be hidden almost anywhere, even in plain view!

Have Fun!

Thanks Dave, and Merry Christmas to you, Lori & Griffin.
We really look forward to some Geocaching adventures when we are out camping. If we get really into it we may want to upgrade our GPS, but I figured that we would start as inexpensive as possible just in case it was one of those things that loses it's luster after awhile.

Cool!!  I see a new regular activity happening at our SCCamper rallies after saturday morning potlucks!  Think the muggles will figure out what we're doing with a group of about 12 people all walking around holding GPS units in their hands? :D

We will have to give Dee a crash course on her GPS so she and her clan can go too.

Welcome to the game.  It's a blast.  I've been geocaching for about 2 years now and I've slowed down a bit.  I just don't have time to do much caching anymore.  But the whole family goes caching and has a blast.  Once we get our pop up, we will be hitting more caches farther from home.

How does this work? My grandkids and I will be camping at Oceanside, CA this summer and it sound like it would be a fun adventure. I have a Garmin 2910 or somesuch that I have not had time to figure out, but my grandaughter it tech savvy and can probably explain it to me. I'd appreciate any further info. Thanks!
