OK, it's January 2 and we go back to school tomorrow so naturally I'm thinking about Spring Break!  We've already booked John Pennekamp State Park in beautiful Key Largo.

Ours is late this year, April 10 - 15.  When is yours?

Happy New Year,

Tena

Our school district had school start today.  We never have spring break in our district, but we make our own spring break over Easter and take a 5 day camping trip to Assateague Island National Sea Shore.:)

We're off starting Good Friday, April 14.  We have the entire next week off, returning to school on Monday, April 24.  We'll be camping at Pohick Bay SP, in Virginia leaving on Easter Sunday 4/16 and returning home on Friday 4/21.  I am a teacher, so get the time off with the kids.

Ours is the last week in March.
I'm not camping.
I know.
I am a wimp.

There is a fine line between wimp and wise.  You aren't a wimp, you are just protecting the vynil in your windows!

Here in Anoka-Hennepin ISD #11 it's April 10-14.  No, we won't be camping, because PJay's spring break at Bethel is March 20-24...has nothing to do with the weather...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Looking forward to a sunrise service on the beach Easter.
There will be 9 families going at this time may add 1-2 more before dates get here.

As much as I've begged and pleaded with my boss, she still will not give us a spring break.  It really tears into my camping.

We have spring break any time we want it now...the kids are all grown...no more school schedules to worry about!  :D

Pohick Bay is very nice.  We stay there often as it's a nice close weekend campground for us.     If you've reserved, do you know what spot you are going to be in? I have many pictures from that park in my webshots site.  :>  Let us know if we can be any help!!

It'll be a few years before I'm on permanant spring break.  We've got a 10 year old at home.  Need to graduate her before I can think about serious down time.

I called Pohick Bay a couple days ago to reserve, the ranger I spoke to said no reservations will be taken until after March 1.  Maybe a different ranger would give me a different answer.  Maybe I'll try again in a couple days.  Just glad we don't have to deal with ReserveAmerica.  We stayed at Pohick Bay last year, same time period, in site 23 or 25.  The site was OK if a bit uneven, dropping down into the ravine.  We thought site 71 was a nice large one.  We also liked the even sites around about 20-26 on the inside of the loop.  I don't have a site map in front of me, I'm doing this from memory.  Any photos you have would be great!

Same with us, but we're going to Florida over winter break 2/18 and staying in a timeshare condo.  No camping for us in February.  The camper's snowed in in the backyard.  Couldn't get to it if we wanted to.  First camping trip will be spring break.

You won't have any problem making reservations in March. About the only time I've ever seen Pohick full in all the years I've been here is the July 4th weekend.   71 is a great site.  It's really large, but many of them are there.  I have pictures on my webshots page of us on that site.  http://community.webshots.com/user/vjm1639    You'll have to look for the albums that say Pohick ...I think there are two of them.  If you need any more pictures or any info just let me know.  We're around there frequently.  :>

Our 1.5 year old girl is still on "permanent spring break" :)

However, my wife is a teacher... so we are limited to her breaks.  She has both Winter (Feb 20-24) and Spring (April 10-14).

Her Spring break fluctuates wildly; last year it was March 21-25, which made it perfect for a ski trip.  This year, April is too late to be confident about there being enough snow (and Feb may be too stormy).

I'm not anticipating any problems getting a site.  When we were there last year, the campground was only about 25% full.  It's one of the nicest parks we've seen to date.  I don't understand why it would be so under untilized.  Most of the sites there are spacious.  We should try to get there sometime in the summer when everything is leafed out.  I would think it's beautiful.  Thanks for posting the pics.

It is a beautiful park and it surprises me to see the ones that people in this area recomend instead. We stay there when we have to have hookups (if it's too cold or too hot)  otherwise the only other local parkwe like better is Prince William Forest Park...the one in the park, not the Travel Trailer Village.  It has no hookups though for those that want them but it's also a beautiful campground.   We have never even made reservations at Pohick and haven't ever had a problem getting in.
