Quote from: Dee4jwell I may not make it until Friday at this rate...this new "day" job thing is blowing chucks in my schedule...haven't got a thing ready. just got back from a HS info nite for Kevin's school next year.

Lisa I don't feel guilty taking the kids out at all... they are on an educational field trip. as I said on another thread is . the note I gave to the teachers was:

they will be studying the climate of the inland desert while recording the metabolic effects of sugar as they observe the cultural rituals of the Day of the Dead... hence this equals an excused absence :sombraro:

Oooo...that is a good note!!  I will have to remember that one for NEXT year.  Do you have any good ideas for taking a day off and going to Disneyland?!

The boys next door are home-schooled...so when I told Keelynn we would do some "school" in the trailer...she got all excited saying "I get to be home-schooled?".  Yes, for one day...that's about all I could do with my own children!  Actually, my poor kids....I will probably work them harder than if they went to school that day!  I do know it is a whole different matter in middle and high school!

Lori...in the district I grew up in (Manhattan Bch)....they request that the parents pay $40/day for unexcused absences!

I don't mind when a parent takes a child out for a day, maybe once or twice a year....heck, most people can take a day off from their work...and school is child's "work".  Kids need a break, too (and summer is far away!).

Well, the trailer is charging...the bags are packed...my beer is chilling.  See you all soon!

Dear Logan & Keelyn's teachers:

They will not be in school  tomorrow as they are going to study the social reactions of multi-cultural Homosapiens when introduced to large Mice, Ducks and Dogs. They are also going to record the effects on the heart rate while moving at various speeds and elevations.

everything is ready to load in the trailer & coolers.

griffsdad

TheViking

Well....I guess I will go outside and hitch the trailer up cause.....WE'RE GOIN CAMPIN !!!!

Lori here: Griffin has a little Halloween story that he likes.  It's geared more for the younger kids, but I can read that to the kids Saturday night before the movie if anyone wants.

Dave is bringing RV, Princess Bride, Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, 40-Year -Old Virgin and a few other movies to choose from for movie night on Saturday.  Maybe we could even have a movie on Friday night too.   I like this idea a lot--maybe we could make it a standard thing for our rallies! :)

I got looked down on a bit when my kids were little because so many in our church were homeschooling and I "neglected" my kids by sending them to school (albeit private school).  I told them I didn't homeschool because I didn't want my kids to be abused.  It's the truth -- I'd have killed them!!!  We battle enough over homework!

It's a personal choice....based on individual needs.  I would never say every child should go to school, and I would never say every child should be home-schooled.  None is better...just different.  For my daughters' needs, I know going to school is the best for them and their academic/social needs.

Still packing.....just put the most important item in the trailer (besides the beer)...the TV!!!

45 minutes and counting.

Update from Dave at 6:00 p.m.:

He and Moose were sitting in a pizza parlour, drinking a pitcher of dark beer and eating jalapeno and anchovie pizza.  (Okay, that part about the pizza was Dave--Moose wouldn't have any part of it)  Apparently there were a whole bunch of cheerleaders in the place as well, but I told Moose I wasn't worried about them.  Even if the cheerleaders made off with our boys; after they'd had those two for awhile, they'd be glad to bring 'em back! ;) :J
