Quote from: DK&3kidsYou caught me...I was watching soaps, BUT I was putting together books for my classroom next year because teachers work at home WITH NO PAY in the summer BRIAN!:swear:

AND, hit the Target sales to buy school supplies for their classrooms!  This week, I hit Target to buy 120 folders, and some markers, glue sticks, etc. for my students.  :-)

Kristi...our superintendent just publicly announced his retirement to the press last night (he emailed all employees yesterday).  He did 15 years with Capo USD.  If you hit ocregister.com, you can find that our district has been in the papers a LOT for accusations against our super and school board.  He is a good superintendent (has his flaws, but we all do)....I am sad to see him go.

Anyway, just recently got done with my mid-day nap.....

Expect lots of lawsuits. You can't keep private lists on people. Too bad, Capo Valley Unified will be paying out lots of $$$$$. The ultimate losers are the kids.

Cool!  I hit Staples and Walmart...are the portfolios on sale now @Target?  How much?  I'll make a run tomorrow.

I hadn't heard the news...but now I'll be on the lookout.

Target has 2-pocket portfolios with the 3-ring "tabs" -- 10 for $1.00.  I bought 250 ...

They also had 24ct. Crayolas for $.22, but were out.  I need 40 boxes.  And then if Staples has colored pencils, I'll get those, too.  Ahhh ... buying consumable "stuff" for kids who think it just appears.  Have there been any pencil boxes (the plastic kind) on sale anywhere yet?

This is ALL I'm doing for school.  It's amazing how much I'm avoiding it this summer.  Last year really burned me out.

Excellent!  I hit Staples and Walmart before we left for Oregon, but Target wasn't ready yet....going to get my portfolios today then!  I saw pencil boxes @ Walmart for $.50...but they were the cheapie kind IMHO.

If any of those parents sue CUSD---then they will be hurting their own children, as well as others.  Oh, and they will look stupid...they complained district $$ was not being spend well....if there are lawsuits to contend with....that is district $$ not being spent well.

However, if anyone should be in "trouble" it should be the registrar for allowing CUSD to see the recall names and such.  Capo saw it, and supposedly kept track of their "enemies"---what is wrong with that?  But, in the grand scheme...I have never signed any other those things thinking my signature was confidential.

Do you know this whole recall crap was started because parents did not get their way with the school board and Fleming regarding school boundaries?!  Those parents are bordering, if not are, on the elitist/racist side.  They didn't want their kids with the San Juan kids!!!  And, if I already thought down on those parents because of that...now I am listening to them say their kids are being harrassed because the parent signed the recall.  That is insane!  I am sorry....if your kid is tardy/absent often--it is not the district harrassing you...it goes through a state system!  And, oh, my God, yes, we teachers do make mistakes (very few, but they do happen)---so that boy did not get his award because of a mistake!  Fleming is much too busy running a multi-million $ enterprise than to harrass a kid.  Come on!

Fleming has done an outstanding job with Capo in these 15 years.  Our district has incurred tremendous growth--with not the easiest of clientale.  All in all, he should be commmended....and it is a loss to Capo.  Those parents should have talked to more teachers about things...about what all we have seen Fleming do with our district.  It is Fleming who has made Capo cutting-edge, prestigious, etc.  I can only pray that his replacement will be able to handle this huge enterprise...which is still growing....with high standards....and happy teachers.

There.  Ahem.  I have been out picketing against Fleming in the past for contract negociations.  He has done some political moves I so did not agree with.  I am not a Fleming Supporter....just a teacherparent who wants what is best for her students and own children....and I do feel Fleming met that criteria in the grand scheme of all this.

Those parents are strong....why don't they take up a real cause----deal with the federal and state not fully-funding special ed!  Districts are going to go under if that does not change (Capo included).  Special Education encroachment is a real problem...coming out of general ed $$.  Also, Capo is still not getting the same amount of money per student as other districts--because of...ack...low-wealth districting...take that on parents!!!

Stepping off the soapbox.

The OC Register is now reporting that Supt. Fleming failed to disclose his true salary; he was again according to the OC Register more than $64,000 shy of his true salary - OPPS, and he's paid much more than any other district superintendent or city manager in OC. Fleming's salary according to the OC Register is - $348,307. Wow!!!!!! The OC Register states: "this is the latest in a string of misdeeds by the Capistrano Unified School District."

Quoting a parent the OC Register states "I don't know what there focus is, but it's not the education of our kids".  "How is keeping my child and I on an enemies list good for education?"

Just quoting the Register.

griffsdad

Did you know that President's Bush's salary is $400,000/year?

Yes, I saw that.  However, does everyone tell the paper their salary to be published?  Again, not a Fleming Fanatic....but, he is the CEO of a multi-million dollar enterprise---how much do CEOs usually make?!  More than $350 grand.

Now, I could be wrong - but Mr. Fleming is a public official - therefore his salary; paid by our property taxes; is a public matter. CEO's = private enterprise/money.

Why did he lie and why has he resigned. I don't know him from Adam, but resigning sends a message; again I could be wrong; that he has something to hide.

Yes, he is a public employee.  I was just stating a point that most employees don't have to share their salaries publicly.  My salary is listed online...that's okay.

Why did he lie?  He is a politician!  That's part of his job description!  I am sure he has things to hide...who doesn't?   :D

When a parent tells me that some other parent was talking smack about me or such....I want to know who that parent is.  Do I keep a list?  Nah, luckily, it is quite a small list.  So he had a list of "enemies".  Maybe he was keeping the list to contact them to rally them to help with the special ed encroachment or low wealth districting problems!!   ;)   I must be missing something...a screw loose probably....but what is the big deal about him knowing and keeping a list of those who were against him?!  The retaliation angle is just absurd.

Not to bring any harsh politics into this....many of those recall people were for the recall of Davis...and Arnie supporters....where were they when Arnie stole our money?  It was us teachers (and nurses, firefighters, etc.,) who spoke up on that issue.  And, thankfully, Arnie gave it back.  Those parents weren't doing their "thang" then!  No, instead, they don't get their way with the boundaries....and look where they have gotten us!

Enjoying our banter!

Please correct me if I'm wrong, Superintendent Fleming is an educator not a politician. Right? And if you were to check his educational background it would not be in political science, but in education. Right? And believe me, everyone should tell the truth. And with that principle in mind - educators/teachers such as Superintendent Fleming, who are probably held to a higher standard because they are educating are children, should be telling the truth. Right?

Again, as to having a list of "enemies of the district"; parents and their children; doesn't that send a message to parents on that list that your're going to treat my children differently than children of other parents who are not on that list. You betcha. And was this list a secret? Sure it was - - until a whistle blower revealed it.

Just a reminder that this thread is about "Temecula Campsites and Attendees." It's nice to see such energetic and cordial discussion, but maybe a new thread could be started to discuss this. :)
