Quote from: SheBantamCape Henlopen SP has no electric, but does offer hot showers and most sites have water

Hi Paula,

I saw some pictures of Cape Henlopen and in the pictures it showed campers parked along the sides of the road with the site going into the sand from the road.  Are all of the sites like that?:)

SheBantam

No, there are a lot of campsites that are in the back and are not parallel parking. A popup would be OK back there, but something like mine I would be afraid of getting stuck..the weekend I was there, there were popups back there as well as tents. I will try to e-mail you pictures when I get home as they re-imaged my machine here and I transfered a lot of picures but a lot I did not and the henlopen ones were ones that I could live with out here at work. I took a lot of pictures of the sites away from the rest rooms that were not parallel parking.  They were working on some pull throughs that were at the front of the back in sites.  That was well over a year ago since i was there.

Tracy 7 pics sent through my gmail account to the COTOC email.

Paula thanks for the pictures.  At the Cape Henlopen reservation site there are two choices.  Without water and they are for tents only and with water.  The sites with water all say that you must park on the asphalt and only parallel parking.  I would not want to parallel park to camp.  I would be afraid someone would hit me.:yikes:   Why do you think your trailer would get stuck easier than mine???

You might only get hit if you were doing maintenence on your trailer and were in the middle of the street.  I did not see a trailer hit when I was there...a lot of male bonding nearby...and several families with popups and TTs, but no one hit. I was not keen on the idea, but got one  near the restroom where I could back up into the bushes.

Actually I like Trapps and we might, just might be able to get Paula and Kershner there...they like that place also...

Isn't mine heavier???? I know you carry a lot of stuff, but I have EVERY nook and cranny of the 17 feet of actual TT filled with important camping gear..which at Henlopen, I could leave a lot home since there is NO electric.

Call the campground to see if they would allow popups in the back, though I did not get pics, I saw some back there.

If Electricity is not an issue, then maybe Lums Pond SP here in New Castle County, it is above the Canal near Glasgow, so it is relatively convenient to I 95 and close to grocerys and resturaunts(no Walmarts or Kmarts Real Close, they are in Elkton MD).

Delaware has TAX FREE Shopping. Which does make Henlopen handy because of the outlet centers.

When is the group going to come to Hagerstown?  We would love to show you around our area.  We have several state parks, a KOA on the creek and a Jellystone is less than a mile from our house. With Kershner's vacation status (none yet) it might be the only way we can see you this year.  They are putting the finishing touches on our sun room.  It has been a LONNNNGGGG process.  Hope it will be worth it.  Think about when you can come this way.   Miss you.   Paula

Probably when you plan a trip for Hagerstown.:)

SheBantam

How far is Hagerstown from Cunningham Falls State Park? I guess I could map quest it...Jellystone is right off the old 48/40 isn't it??? I think I remember having car trouble and stopping there to call my brother...before the era of cell phones...Before I 68, may ahve been when I 68 was still in the planning stages before the first blast occured.

SheBantam

Floppin' at the Falls! With PUX/Campers and Company
The falls is Cunningham Falls SP
In the William Houck Camping Area.(pet free loop, but there is a pet loop in the campground, Manor Camping Area)

Will be on site 23 10-6  through   10-9

Any other takers???
This is somewhere between Fredrick MD and Gettysbug, but a little further to the west.

Anyone want to join me?

wynot

Paula, you might be thinking of another Jellystone. The one near us is on MD 68, also known as Lappans Rd. It is off Exit 1 on I-81 on the MD- WV border. I-68 is another 40 miles at least from us. Cunningham Falls isn't far from us at all.  It is very close to Camp David. I thought it was totally pet free. The current rumor from our contractor is that we will have a roof on the sunroom today. I hope so, because everytime the subfloor dries out, it rains again. I'll post pictures when it is finished and everyone can come see it.

HersheyGirl

Sara, KawKamper, usually organizes the first weekend in Nov. get together, so talk to her about doing one in MD or at the falls during that time.

SheBantam

Paula, according to the POPUPEX site the Manor is a pet loop I believe it has some electricity.

I'm commited to the Columbus day weekend now at "the Falls">>>

I know I am thinking of some Campground it was East of Cumberland on 48/40. they had a store on the frontage road...or there was a store that looked like a campstore on the frontage road and there were signs to ca campground that I thought was jellystone...like Isaid that was years ago, on a Thanksgiving weekend, and the engine blew right after Savage MOuntain. Jeffrey was teeny tiney...

302 days until Jeffery is 18!!!!
