cool box
I know some people use this or a similar box, and was wondering how they work for you?  I am thinking about getting one when I put in a battery this spring.

HersheyGirl has one.  :)

I have that one, got it at West Marine last fall.  I have not tried it yet, but it is fun to put the battery in and try the gagets on it.  I think that it will work great for my needs.

I like the idea of a meter on the box, but I don't like the idea of having a setup where something could "accidentally" short the battery.

It has a built in circuit breaker :D . Although I still wouldn't feel comfortable having the connectors on the outside of the box either. As far as the meter goes, you can buy one of those most places for $10, I bought a cheap digital volt meter at Harbor freight for $5 and I just leave it hooked up to the battery. A  battery box sells at Walmart for $8.
