Quote from: DoubleDIs that decanter glass?  That is the only concern I would have.  I would either need a spare decanter at all times or bring along my old style percolator incase the glass decanter broke at Murphy's favorite time.

My bet is it's tempered glass.  IIRC, Lexan is heat resistant, but you can't apply a flame directly to it.  I'm a fan of the french press, so will be getting one of the Lexan presses.  I will initially have my regular french press onboard, but will have a backup plan in case of breakage.  Maybe I'll try making cowboy coffee.

I was at the Coleman outlet in Lancaster PA yesterday.  Guess what someone knocked off the display and broke?  You got it, the glass decanter on the Coleman drip coffee maker.:)

I had that same  concern and yes, it is glass.  and I have been known to break decanters  so that's why we went with the stainless steel, and hubby has got his brew down pat and makes a mean cup of Joe now! (only 2 more days un til we leave!!!!!)

I think that I would refer a S/S decanter also. It just makes good sense. Although, I have always had a glass coffee pot. Even on our sailboat, out at sea :yikes: . I just never had a problem with it.

MAN I just saw one of those at Savers Thrift store for $3 and was wondering what the heck it was!  How do you use it?
