So how many people are going to Mojave Narrows over President's Day weekend? We are, site 37, and Will, Pam and Hannah are coming also. BTW, they do Civil War reenactment's at Calico Ghost Town that weekend. We were there last year and had a lot of fun.

Where is this place?  What kind of ammenities?  How much $$?  More information, please!  Thanks -- :D

TheViking

Right now there are six of us. TheViking, Dee4j, DK&3Kids, GrizzlyTaco, Chezway, & Darksiders,  Freedom5 is coming in on Sunday. I'm really leary of how this place will come off to everyone because of the trains, so I didn't want to post on the boards that we were going and have a bunch of people show up and say this place sucks. You know how I feel, the more the merrier. I'd love to go see the civil war re-inactment too. I've always wanted to do that, my Uncle did it every year when he lived in Virginia. We are plannig a potluck on Saturday night with a theme of Italian food.
So far this is the menu:

Chezway- Garlic Bread & Salad
Dee4j- Fettuchini Alfredo
Darksiders- Italian Sausage & Peppers
DK&3Kids- Pesto Tortalini
TheViking- Spaghetti
GrizzlyTaco- Desserts- Pies or Cake

Moose, we look forward to your cooking as always.
Laura, I have posted all the info you need in the West section of the Campground reviews.

We are in spaces 2,4,6,8,3, & 5
This is turning into a bonafide Rally!

oldmoose

WOW, a mini rally. When I made my reservation yesterday, there were only 2 full hookups sites left. We'll figure out what we'll bring and post later.

Dee4j

hey Moose how far is Calico from there???  Kevin's 1st piano teacher is also a seamtress and she made many uniforms for the civil war reenactors .
I have friends that live in Apple Valley and plan on visiting with them. I'm there only Fri-sun.  we had different sites originally until Viking went there and found out how close the trains are...We are "checking" it out as a future rally site....

a weather man said he's not predicting any rain until the 25th...I say the 18th...we're camping :D

oldmoose

Calico is about 45 minutes from the campground. It's too early to predict anything, but as you say when we're camping there's always a shot of weather. Who knows what'll happen. It rained a lot last year and that was unusual as last year was really wet. It'll be brisk in the morning and evening. I'll have to get my fishing license and dust off my gear.

Well, heck.  I just called to see if anything was still open, and on paper they're full.  However, a guy named John said that he's pretty sure there's been a mistake made & 4 more sites could open up on Monday.  I'm calling at 7:30 (when they open) just to check.  So ... if it works, I'll join y'all!

For those new geocachers, there appears to be one quite close, if I'm reading the map correctly.

Let me know if I'm in the wrong area.

I'm sure he is right.  When we went there a couple of weeks ago they had more than 10 sites empty the whole weekend.

TheViking

We need to set up a breakfast potluck for Saturday AM.   So, We will do scrambled egg's and potatoes.   Dee is doing her famous Breakfast Burrito's.
Post what you want to bring so we don't double up.

Is this the campgrounds? Right next to Horeshoe Lake?

Chez Way

For the breakfast potluck I'll bring some fresh fruit and an assortment of cereals (always popular with the kids...)

DK&3kids

Brian is going to Verify our sites in the morning to make sure "the mistake" he's seeing isn't due to our site change to move more away from the trains..

it may have filled up with the promise of good weather and the CWR in Calico

GrizzlyTaco

Brian, If there is a Saturday morning potluck I'll make a Chorizo and Egg scramble and bring some flour tortillas. Let me know if this is cool!!!
