Mountain Man Breakfast

Here's Will's breakfast recipe.

 
Mountain Man Breakfast


1lb. bacon
10-12 medium potatoes; sliced
2 medium yellow onions; diced
12 eggs; beaten
1 1/2 cups fresh mushrooms; sliced
salt and pepper to taste
1 green bell pepper; diced
3 cups grated Cheddar cheese
3 cloves garlic; minced
Picante sauce

Heat a 12" Dutch oven using 18-20 briquettes bottom until hot.



Cut bacon into 1 inch slices. Add to Dutch oven and fry until brown.



Add onion, mushrooms, bell pepper and saut

Hey!!!  You 'stole' PJay's breakfast recipe!  You DO people must hang out at the same sites!  LOL

My DS loves this and made me get the recipe after AB & PJay made it for him last fall while camping.

It's been a regular recipie rip-off, then.  Pjay says she 'stole' it from the MacScouter site.

My dh makes this everytime we go camping.  I don't remember where we got the recipe.  I think I got it on-line some where.

Can I make this in a regular oven? Sounds great but I don't do the dutch oven thing.

Any thing that can be made in a dutch oven can be made in a regular one.

for this recipe you would need to fry the bacon first, I do this on my stove even while doing the dutch oven thing, cause I like my bacon crisp and am not patient enough to wait for coal frying.  Then fry pototoes and onions, etc.
Layer as the recipe states (as pointed out before there are variations, go to //www.macscouter.com) cook at 350 for the same time as for the DO.
