Laura I have a big beating stick you can borrow :J

I talked to Brian today and we were discussing potluck. I know my kids will want to go to the beach. and  honestly after the last couple of months I've had I don't need another thing I have to do. we talked about just BBqing some burgers & dogs and maybe we can each do our own meals but we can gather to eat..but whatever you guys decide is cool with me. breakfast potluck for sure.

That's our plan as well.  Sounds good to me.

No trip to see hybrids today. Griffin had a t-ball game at 11:00, and when it finished, we came home and called Discount RVs in Beaumont to make sure they still had the Roo 23SS. Sadly, its new owners took it home about 45 minutes before I called, and they don't have plans to order more Roos anytime soon. Apparently, they can't order single trailers for their lots--they have to order them in batches and then it takes about 8 weeks for the factory to make it.

Tracey, the saleman I spoke with, said he would talk to his manager and see if they could order us a 23SS, subject to our approval, so that if it came in and we didnt want it, we wouldn't be obligated to buy it and we wouldn't suffer any financial repercussions. (West Coast RV would require a non-refundable deposit before they'd order a 23SS for us to "look at.") Tracey said that he'll give me a call later this week. Of course, he tried his best to try to get me to come look at travel trailers. I just kept saying no thanks--we really like the hybrids.
GO TRACEY GO!!!!!:D

I like that idea!  Then I don't have to really think about what to bring that will be acceptable to people other than me.  Donuts is a no-brainer, but that's about as far as I can think outside of school right now.  We still have Open House to get through next week -- UGH.

Dee -- I took a hiking stick with me yesterday when we went on our hiking field trip, and the kids asked me what it was for.  Oh, to be able to speak honestly sometimes!  BTW, we only saw 1 rattlesnake.  I walked right past it, I guess, but some of the girls saw it, all coiled and rattlin' away!  Pretty impressive!

I would've outrun every student in the class had I seen that!  YIKES!:yikes:

Yes, I'm a big wuss who skims over reptiles as fast as I can during science!

I wanted a picture of it -- for Open House.  It would have made a BIG hit with the parents (ha!).  Guess they'll just to have to settle for a whole bunch of kids standing under a waterfall soaking wet.  Can't say they weren't warned, though.

UGH!  An hour after I posted about the snake...Dan walks up to the sliding glass door a few feet away from my computer with a SNAKE:yikes: in his HANDS!  "Poor little thing" got caught up in some wire stuff in our yard so he was saving it and wanted me to go get my son...I got him alright...as I ran screaming from the room!  My husband is the poster child for Animal Planet!

Your hike sounds like a fun field trip with the waterfall.  A nice refreshing waterfall sounds good right about now...it was 100 here today.

Man...June 2 can't come SOON enough!

In spite of my reputation for being a "mean" teacher (I say "strict"), this trip is somewhat of a tradition with me.  I've done it every year I've been at the school (now 9 years), and ALL the kids know about it.  So, after they go, I'm not such an ogre -- for at least a week.  But the parents are told that their little darlings will get wet, and so far nobody has complained.  I think that their kid's big smile & non-stop recounting of the day kind of gives them the idea that it was one of the most memorable things they've done.  I daresay that some of them will never go hiking again, not for want of doing it, but rather because their parents don't want to/won't take the time to get them out.  Heck, I've got kids who've never seen the ocean, and they've lived in Azusa all their life!  What a sad commentary on the state of parenting ...

My dear old dad, god rest his soul, took me to baseball games, football games, basketball games, the track - Hollywood Park, Santa Anita, Del Mar, Los Alamitos, Caliente, the beach, the mountains, and at Thanksgiving we had family poker games mixed in with Michigam Rummy. He taught me the fine art of finding a good bookie, and I could always count on dad giving me a "pop" of whatever he was drinking. My dad never laid on hand on me. But my wild Irish mom, would beat me silly. In public or at home.  She didn't care.  I was told to respect my teacher, my coaches, my elders, the police, and the military. My dad was a Commander in the Navy. Now that's parenting - old school!

Obviously, it didn't work...or maybe she just didn't do it enough. :p ;) :D  btw, she's still wild. I try to ALWAYS stay on my MIL's good side. :yikes:

Hmmm...snakes vs. spiders. I'll fearlessly smash a spider any day. But I HATE, HATE, HATE snakes. Had one slither two feet in front of my path when I was mountain biking during my lunch hour on Tuesday. Made me scream like a little girl. When I ride, I have "stick anxiety" where every stick has the potential to really be a snake in hiding. There once was a hill where I used to ride that was pretty steep and narrow and for the life of me I could not ride up without stopping. one evening, as I came around the corner and began my approach to the hill, a snake was lying across the path going up the hill. As usual, I screamed and then the adrenalin kicked in and I powered all the way up that hill in about 2 seconds flat After that, I always called it "snake hill." It was cool finally riding up that hill, but I still HATE snakes.
