Guajome needs to check.  Brandon's bites are not flea bites!  Nor are they mosquito bites.  If they are not chigger bites...then there is something else there very nasty!  Bran had to wear his pants folded up today at work, he was itching so bad!

Wayne...did you wash the clothes in hot water?  I didn't, and Bran did seem to get new bites.  I have rewashed them twice in hot water now.

Gotta go play Jenga!

That's funny, I told Kristi that I wish I could wear shorts to work because my pants would rub the bites to the point that I had to scratch.   I counted a minimum of 47 bites on my legs alone, they are now all but gone.  No itching anymore.  The only thing I still have is the wound on my shin where I ran into the steel fire pit.

Lori now has several bug bites on her right foot. Strange.

griffsmom

Yep, I have one of the outside of my right ankle and two on the top of my right foot. Also have one on my right sholder blade. I immediately rubbed them all with rubbing alcohol and they don't itch. It is kind of weird. I can't figure out why I would get them now--a week and a half after the campout. We did have mom ver on Sunday, but her bites are finally in the "going away" stage. I just hope Griffin doesn't get any.

Yep, really weird...hey, maybe our bodies are being taken over by aliens! I'll post if my chest starts to burst ala Sigourney Weaver... ;)

This is LA......most of the womens chests look like they are starting to burst. better look for another symptom.

I called the Guajome Ranger Station yesterday at 760-724-4489. I left my name, number and a brief description of the problem.

No one has called me back, so I called again today and left a 2nd message. Has anyone else besides Brian and I tried to call? If they don't call me back today, I'm calling the San Diego County Health Dept.

I'm starting to lose my sense of humor over this. The bites that I thought were going away, came back with a vengeance this morning. I have wiped every bite with alcohol, daily, since we got home. I also use Benadryl on them. That relieves the itching (for me) for about 24 hours. Carolyn's were w

OK....the phone just rang (mid-sentence) and it was Ranger Rachelle from Guajome. She said, "Geeeee! I'm sorry to hear that. We have had NO reports like that before".    HMMMMMMM!!!

I didn't tell her about us (SCCAMPERS). I merely reported my personal (and Carolyn's) symptoms. I would recommend that anyone that was bitten, to call the above number.

Dee4j

mine are almost gone and have had no new ones..Kara didn't get any ..Kevin had one and Dan had only a couple... it's possible they've had no reports because when we were there on thurs I noticed other than us everyone pretty much stayed inside.

BootheBunch

I will call the campground tomorrow regarding Brandon's bites.  Whether they are chiggers or aliens...they need to spray something!

Bran seems a bit better today.  Of course, he walked out of his job with Behr today--sending his resignation in email form to all the higher-ups and such.  He was so happy when he called me on cell phone!  He starts his new job for Glidden on Monday, so he is very excited!  So, bites/smites....nothing was getting him down today!!

My bites have stopped itching, but sure had a lot of them. I wipped vinegar on them to reduce the itching and it worked. While we were there, I tried using Bounce. What a joke. Back to Deet. Bounce didn't work at our house in the Sierra's for mesquito's either. Moose

Just called Guajome and left a message for them to call me back.  I will let you know what they say when they call me back.    :eyecrazy:

The District Manager of the parks system called me...he thought I was Wayne's wife calling!  I told him I didn't know what he was talking about...gave him my name.  I told him what was going on with Bran.  He said he has no idea what it could be, as there are 40,000 different insect species.  He also said they have had NO other reports of a problem.  I didn't call him on it.  He said they would keep my incident down, in case they get any more reports in the next months or so.  Oh, and next time I come, to give him a call and they would bring me some wood over (guilt?).  I thanked him and left it at that.  He did ask if Bran had sought med treatment.  Maybe someone should, as Bri brought up!!!
