We take our cell phones with us in case of emergencies at home.We were in the mopuntains in Va. on our motorcycle a few years ago and the DW's mother passed away.If we had not had the cell phones with us,we wouldn't have known till we got home.

yes we are a connected family, my part time job, was to be on line , and if i didn't take my laptop i wouldn't be able to have gotten away so much! But I used it late night, so my days and evenings were ours to enjoy. My cell phone is my leash, I have to have it on 24/7 for work, and family. They know when I'm away and only son calls me for non emergencies while away. DH uses it to check the market when he is following something, and on bad weather days he will watch a DVD, we also track the weather, so we know whats doing. We to have the verizon card, it works great, even in the mountains of North Carolina we got a signal.

We take our cell phones mostly for emergencies.  We have a tv, dvd player and radio/cd player, tv connected games-at least 3, and card games.  We like to watch the weather and DH likes a movie if the weather is bad.  I like the tv for the noise factor in the late evenings and we both like to listen to music.  The games are mostly for bad weather or when the kids/grandkids come along.  We just like to get away from the rat race of home but still like to have the things we like with us.

We do bring our cell phones. More often than not we get no signal. When we camp local the signal is there, and if it rings the noise of it scares the crap out of me!
