Hi all. We made it back about an hour ago or so. The ride was uneventful (luckily). K and her friend did word searches and read. Couldn't believe how quiet they were.

Despite wrecking my knee, I had a good time seeing everyone. Glad I picked the site closest to the bathroom - I was able to use crutches along the path some of the time. Will post more later, but I'm off to lie down for awhile. I'm trying to ration the pain meds a bit, so they last til tomorrow when I can call my doctor.

Figures the weather was beautiful today - the day we had to leave. Stopped by and saw the water park on our way out. Girls said they had a good time there yesterday but didn't want to go back. Same with the fair. Rick, thanks for the campfire. Nice way to end the trip.

Hey all!

We're home too...  It was an uneventful ride 3/4's of the way.  I had the CB off and a truck went by from TN that my Dad wanted to talk to - so we switched it on.  Luckily we did because we were at milemarker 40 on 287 and all of a sudden everyone was screaming that the road was closed at milemarker 49.  There was a bad wreck and they were landing a helicopter on the highway.  We jumped off the next exit and took back roads to go around it.  It was a 5 mile backup.  Di, I think we might've been in your neck of the woods lol.

Well I can say this was the dirtiest the camper, TV, and us have ever returned home from a camping trip.  I think I have about 57 pounds of sand that I got out of the camper and van.

Thanks to all for a great trip.  It seems like the Sept trip is soooo far away, but really it's next month if you think about it.

we got back to sussex yesterday, a four hour trip turned into a six hour! on our way down we blew two trailer tires, which also took out the end of our waste system.  The first tire blew on the NJ PIKE, we changed that one, the second blew on 295south exit 29, we had to call Good Sams for that one. Within one hour they found us a tire and had a tire repair truck out to us. Then we pulled into Camping World store (295s, exit 10) we got the replacement pieces for the waste system, and had two new tires installed, (they said the other tire was fine just needed valves, so we had all them changed. and on we went!
On our return trip home, guess what? The fourth tire blew! and we put the spare on, and we were on 295n, so we went back to Camping World, and the repair shop was closed on Sundays , but the Manger who knew how to rim a new tire, open the shop and fitted us with a new tire, all we had to do was put it on, since he couldn't get into the tool room for the jack. which was fine with us! we can change a tire with in 12 minutes! ( yes, I timed it)
Now we have three Good Years and one Miles tire, So we are set for the next outing!  The old saying when it rains it pours well they are right!
Paula hope your feeling better, Maggie you too, and Di hope your walking with out pain very soon, glad the poup got fixed, (thanks to  Rick ) Sara hope your car is working ok, Dave glad you got the kids to drier ground before that storm! I think we all thought we were going to start floating that night.

Though I am work I am technically still camping, just taking a break from the fresh air and humidity.

We did the Cape May Lewes Ferry yesterday, as always beautiful ride. Sarah (Becky's sister) saw Dolphins for the first time...lots of jelly fish too!!

Sorry for the disjointed post Dave, but that is what happens witha fever I guess...Yeah some had it rough (DiW, DEE and Sarah and Noel with limbs and vehicles...)

Rick, when took the Bantam to Assateague, a couple of years ago with the girl scouts, I still have not gotten all the sand out, still finding some around in obsure corners and I have a vaccuum in that camper.

Boy Dee, I feel your pain.   Within the last month, I've blown 3 tires myself.  No loss to the waste system since they were all on the front axle.   I've gotten the tire change down pretty quick myself!

carlisle tires by any chance?
they have a bad rep, and now i can see how. ours were only three years old, and not that much miliage on them, and the threads were good, only the valves showed they needed replacement, which we had done, and when the third blew, it wasn't the valves that caused it.

banjorules

Carlisle tires one and all.   I have no idea how old they are, though they looked new.  I'm now running Goodyears on the street side and Carlisles on the curb side.  If these Carlisles cut loose, they'll be replaced with Goodyears.

Poor Becky's turn:

The Boys were on the bunk end when they (Tracy and Becky heard a noise and saw that the metal trim piece on the side of the trailer that helps hold the rim of wood that holds the back bunk up was hanging loose..
I got this desperate call on my cell's voice mail asking if I could bring a drill and bits (since I am close to home). I was calling her anyway to tell them I had a hot date for dinner...well a dinner date with my husband so I had to go home anyway to wait for him to get off from work...

I have this unused Coleman set...drill. reciprocating saw, light, circular saw and possibly something else...and it came with drill bits. Becky has it now for her re-construction job.  Her and Tracy are quite handy.

My minor trauma was that a squirell ate the gas line to my gas stove, I have a hose that goes where the 1 lb bottle goes to a 20 lb tank...Oh well, at least it was not the camper's gas line.

This is my last night and I hitch up tonight and go home in the morning. They hitch up and go onto WV tomorrow...this has been fun...just wished I did not cough all night and could get some sleep...

This is HUMPDAY!!

Sorry to hear about everyone's troubles. Thought we had trouble covered on our trip down & setting up. Guess when it rains, it pours. Anyway, I still can't walk. Painful, esp if I move a certain way. Can't bend down. Crutches help, but I can't swing bad leg without a lot of pain, so I'm using the crutches more like a cane... Company is arriving today. I got out of cleaning. The girls are doing it (and complaining about how much work it is - this is good for them to realize). Will probably get my leg checked by another ortho guy this week if no improvement. Used up the Vicodin so had to use Tyl w Cod. Had expected to feel better by now (fell on Saturday).

I got home a few minutes ago. No movement seen at Tracey's or Becky's so I did not say good bye to them, just up and left, had most all done last night.

Not only did a squirrel eat the gas line, one also ate my popup garbage can, well a couple of holes in anyway, still quite useable since it is lined with bag anyway. Just annoyed.

Got my tools back, Andy is to bring the drill to WV and finish the fix the bunk end project.

AND Becky got her leaking AC to stop leaking, and it looks like the ceiling bubbling may have been caused by the same problem...the AC bolts were not in tight...so all with ACs, check your bolts, especially if your ceiling might be bubbling...

This official looking white truck was following from Dover, had lights on the top of it. So I wondered if I was having a problem and just did not know it.  When I sped up this truck sped up, I was hoping it was not going to follow me home...Wher DE Rt.1 splits with 13, the truck passed me on the right, the driver smiled and waved...THEN I recognized the Driver and waved back...
It was Our CHIP, he works for DELDOT and bless his heart he followed me as far as he was able.  Am assuming he was going to the DELDOT building on Rt 7 at Christiana from where we parted ways.

Good trip (well for me anyway though I was sick most of the time) with good friends. Cannot wait intil Locust lake, hope Chip and Margie and the cats can make it.
Dpomeroy, wish I could have caught you all and said hi, every time I came over you all were gone and probably vice-versa with me...
Di I hope you start getting better.
Dee and Ken, see you in Sept.

Hi everyone!  We had a great time in DE with everyone, except I didn't get to meet depomroy.  Sorry we didn't get to meet you this trip.  Hopefully next time.  We had a safe trip over to WV.  A pickup towing a large boat did try to put Hersheygirl out of commission getting onto the Bay bridge on RT 50.  Other than that no problems.  I am glad that everyone got home OK and Di I am sorry that you are still having problems.  I tried to call your cell phone tonight, but it was turned off.  I hope that isn't bad news. are you in the hospital???

Greetings, All--

Sounds like everybody got home OK--We survived our grueling 20 minute trip home.

It was good to put faces to the names I see here.  Sorry we didn't get up with the Pomeroys-maybe next time.

Diane--hope you are feeling better.

Paula--I actually caught up with you about 2 miles above the canal bridge, and was only in your vicinity for about three minutes when I  exited. That was quite the surprised look though.  :)

Not sure about Locust Lake-that's a holiday weekend and Margie may not be able to get any time off.  We'll just have to see what happens.

Chip and all,
I think Raymond and I may do a weekend at Cape Henlopen this fall as he likes the pier to fish from.

If anyone is interested let me know and let me know what weekends would work. Remember there is no electricity at the campsites there, that is why I am waiting until fall.  With temps running in the low 100's this week, I am ready for cooler weather.

Locust Lake is not on a Holiday weekend.  It is September 22-24th weekend.  The last full weekend in September.  Hope you can make it and we are mostly camping in the pet loop so your cats would be fine to come.:)

Yep. Yer right.  It's not a holiday weekend.

But it is the weekend that the Nascar circus comes to town.  Which means that there is no vacation time granted for the casino workers.  (Margie works in the vault.)  :(

Oh, well.  Maybe next time.
