Welcome to COTOC!  It will be the first time camping in Delaware for several of us.  I hope you can get a site and join us.:)

Adam

Hey Tracy,

Just dropped a post in your PUX-COTOC section !  A few of us have been talking about coming. One question is the "A" loop the only FEMA section ?  or is this just what's left of the 30-35ft sites. Can you comment or sugguest any nice sites in this loop ? It might be 3 or 4 of us joining !

Hi Adam, nice to hear from you.  I have never been to this campground so I can't recommend any sites.  Did you look online at their website?  If you click to make online reservations it tells you a little about the sites.  Also SQUIB has camped there and here is what he emailed me when I asked him.

"
My favorite area is the d loop, close to the boat dock in the back, and the bath house.

Do you have info on the water park? Nice but too may regulations.

The campground is mostly flat and sandy make sure you use a mat that sand wont get trapped in.

Fire rings are nice, they are on poured concrete

We were on D-6

Nice hiking trail thru the park

lots of wild cats looking for handouts

I will be there the 24th of this month, anything you want me to check out?

I may also have some pics of the Bath house, let me see if I can find them"

He is camping this weekend.  Hope you can make it.:)

Adam, we camped there a couple of years ago. Sites are sort of small when considering PA SPs. D loop is nowhere near the boat ramp, but there is a fishing dock and another by the cabins. You can tie out a canoe or Kayak, there is a motor size limit on boat motors, that I know of, we camped on D.  The boat ramp I know of is on the Road between that campground and the water park.

There is electric and water at each site. I do not know what a FEMA site is unless the nuclear power house blows.  This is fair week. So sites may be reserved for that.

I do not remember it being all that sandy as it is well inland., But I would use sand pads on the tongue and stablizers (that is what I use my Lynx levelers for.)

That description sounds more like Trapps pond, but I could be wrong.

If you have alergies, bring the claritin, when we were there, they planted wild flowers out by the office and my allergies flared really bad.

Only one car per camp site, that is strictly enforced! Extra vehicles are parked by the office.

Other than that, I do not remember any overly strict rules.

There is only one bathhouse for the campground, do not remember much about it, but did know it was rather busy.

Adam

Thanks Tracy, Paula,

I will give Rich a call and get some more input, but it sounds like a nice campground,

Tracy,

When I check the online reservation this morning all that came back available was the "A" section for 30-35ft trailers, W/E !  Just need to check the vacation schedule with good ole boss...should be no problem !

Paula the campground map shows a boat dock behind the camping loops near loop D.  Maybe they added that after you camped there.:)

Just looked at the reservation page for the 7/20-23 timeframe...Looks like there are plenty of spaces left.  All have Water and Electric and all are in the shade.  And as near as I remember, all will handle larger units.  I've seen everything from tents to motor homes there.

Not sure what a  FEMA site is either.  There is a boat DOCK down the hill behind C- and D-Loops.  And there is a boat RAMP on the road near the campground.

Don't remember seeing many cats, other than the two we bring along, but there are lots of squirrels.

This is turning out to be quite the group.  Should be a blast!

Hey all!

Ok we're in... errrr I'm in.  Site B1 arriving Fri 7/21 and departing 7/24.  That friday is the start of a seventeen day vacation from work!  Copcargirl cannot get off work, so looks like you all will have to deal with me alone.  I feel guilty going on a trip alone, but she is going to visit her sister in Montana 6/29 to 7/10, and told me you guys would take care of me on this camping trip.  :D  I might ask my parents and sis if they would like to come...  I've never been camping in DE so I am looking forward to this trip.

HersheyGirl

Rick, I am so glad that you are joining us.  This should be fun!

dee106

bring your nickles tooo, if it rains the slots are on the other side of the state fair grounds,.

i've camped there once before, sites are clean, and average size, i don't remember sandy sites, i remember lots of woody, and green sites, yes if you have seasonal allegies to flowers and things, you should bring your meds.  as far as the bath house, it was clean, only used it once, we have our own!

Rick, you HAVE been to Delaware? Right?  DON"T ask me for directions, Tracy can verify that...
