Has anyone camped at Lamb's on Lake Superior? I'm looking for information about it. We'd like to spend a week on the shore in August. Have a pop-up and need electricity and showers. Any thoughts? After the shore, we'll head up to Thunder Bay. Any thoughts on Sleeping Giant vs. Kakabeka Falls? Thanks a bunch!

Sorry, I can't help you with Lamb's.  I have some friends who love the municipal campground in Grand Marais, though.  It's right on the harbor and has lots of amenities.  We were supposed to join them last year, but we couldn't make it.  It's still on the list of places I'd like to camp.[/FONT]

I have been to Lamb's in Schroeder, MN on the "Saltless Sea", Lake Superior several times. Lamb's is an excellent resort with many lakeside campsites and 3 (or so) cabins. They have some PRIME camper sites ON THE LAKE. In fact, #4 is too close to the shore, in a storm waves may get you wet! There is a large area for RV's with a view, lakeside tent sites, and many hillside sites as well.

Most have electric and water, the view is incredible, the owners are terrific, grounds are well kept. The shoreline goes from rock face to pebble beach.

I give Lamb's 5 stars! In fact, I am headed there in TWO DAYS! I'm so excited! I'll sit on the beach, look for agates, feed the sea gulls, and ponder life while gazing into the horizon and sipping my wine.

Happy camping :)

We stayed at Sleeping Giant and day tripped to Kakabeka . We enjoyed staying at the Giant and it wasn't a bad spot to day trip from. Don't forget to take a side trip to Ouimet Canyon.

Well, I'm back already and am just reading your post. It was beautiful by day and COLD at night! Brr... We did go into Canada and would have loved to take in the Ouimet Canyon. I'll look that up and put it on my "next time" list. I have been to Kakabeka Falls, the Agate Mine, Panorama Amethyst Mine, Old Fort William.. all excellent day trips.

On the Minnesota side, just south of the border, I highly recommend the Devil's Kettle on the Brule River. In addition to the info at this link, I've read they've put thousands of pingpong balls and tons of red dye into the "kettle" and have never been able to determine where all this water goes. A fabulous hike.

This year we were short on time, (possibly too much wine the night before, got a late start) so drove up Hwy 61 in Ontario and had dinner at AJ's Trading Post. Such wonderful food! Fresh, home made from scratch hamburger buns and pies, and I had my first dish of Poutine! Very good indeed. :) Around sundown, we drove to Lake Oliver in hopes of spotting a MOOSE but no.

It's so beautiful "up north" with the forests, the little lakes and the BIG lake, the Sawtooth mountains, and wilderness... I just love it.
