I just purchased a BAL leveler and tried it in the yard today. In pictures of it the the screw seems to be completely vertical. When I used it, the screw was on an angle meaning it does not sit in the little recessed circle in the base correctly (or so it seems to me). My husband says that once I raise it more it will sit more vertically in the circle/hole, but what if I don't need to raise it that much to level the camper will it accidently slip out and drop that side suddenly with movement in the camper :( ?

Does your setup look like Oz and Us's photo?

If there is tension on the screw (raising the wheel) it won't come out.

Unless you have to raise the wheel a lot the screw will be at an angle. We've used our for 3 years and would not part with it. Once you start to raise the tire, the screw won't pop out.

The screw will be on an angle unless you have it cranked up pretty high, but you need to have the end of the screw in the little cup with grease in the cup and on the threads. I have to crank it up a little bit before the tip of the threaded rod will reach the little cup.  I do that before I put the BAL under the tire.:)

I have never seen this leveler before. Does it work well? It looks like a good idea. Are there a lot of PUT members using this? Where is the best place to get one? Can it be used with standard wheel chocks?

Awesome product.  I've had one for 2 years and also wouldn't part with it!

You put the BAL on the low side tire and chocks on the other side.  I think it really makes a difference in how stable the PU feels too.  I bought mine from the classifieds here.  I know Camping World has them and I'm sure others will chime in with other sources.

Welcome to PUT!

I wouldn't use anything else.  It's helped us have a much more hassle-free set-up!  And, it's eliminated a fair amount of friction we used to have at set-up time as we tried to get the camper leveled!

I also think that it is a handy tool. It is heavy and a little hard to stow. However I think that the difference it makes in set-up is worth it :D .

We just used ours for the first time this passed weekend..Hubby loves it !!

What would a fair price be?

Thanks, I was just concerned about the screw slipping out of the little receiver cup. It does look like the one pictured when cranked up high enough. I just purchased mine through Sportsmans Guide for $55 plus $10 shipping.

Will it work with all tire sizes?

fritz_monroe

It says
QuoteFits most trailers with 13", 14" or 15" tires. Will level any lightweight single axle trailer

I just ordered mine from Sportsmans guide.

It says most.. Our Aliner has 14s  205/75/14 I think (it's raining or I'd go look) and the BAL just fits and on real soft surfaces is kind of tight to get around the tire. I'm going to guess a 15" tire would be a difficult fit.
