The family and I will be spending at least the week at a great campground in the pocono mountains, called Knoebels Grove. It is a very unique type of campground. They have an amusment park right next to the campground. All of the rides are dirt cheap! They have a great selection of sites.

I have been there a few times before and the kids just loved it. So we decided to make it one of our stops this year. Anyone with kids (Big kids) will love this place. Check out the website http://www.knoebels.com/

They are in Elysburg, PA about 2 1/2 hours from Philadelphia/South Jersey

Hope to see you soon!

We love the amusement park, but the campground is too crowded for us. They also own another campground called Lake Glory. I believe they run a shuttle from the campground to the amusement park. I only live about 40 minutes from the park (about 20 minutes from where I work), so maybe we can meet during your trip.:)

PS: The area is too far west to be considered the Poconos

Ya.. the campground is kind of crowded at times, like the weekends. During the week its not to bad. But you have to expect the crowds at such a place. This is really the only crowded campground we ever go to. Most of the time we like to stay at state parks with an average 45 - 60 site max, and all well spread out.

I know that its a little bit outside of the "Poconos" but it still has that feeling to me.

It would be nice to see you when we visit. Hopefully we will meet when we camp Killens in Delaware.

We made a last minute camping trip to Knoebel's a few years back. We must have gotten a last minute cancellation coz I called on a Sat morn and they said if you can be here in a few hrs, it's yours. I gave the kids 15-30 min to pack and we left. Turned out great. Although our site sounded horrible - grassy, no shade - it had electric and we were able to run out A/C. It was really hot. The (not very impressive) bathroom and the shuttle bus stop were just a short walk. We weren't in the really crowded section down closer to the amusement park. I would definitely go back - just not sure of the timing.

Funny You should mention this park, I was just telling my boss about it today as we want to make another joint camping trip with each other (went with her GS troop last year at Assateague, I stayed in the family section, the scouts were in the group section...

She wants to do a mid-week in the summer at Lake Glory, well a Sunday to Wednesday campout...

We will see if these dates work for her...
