Quote from: AzusateachI'm thinking about picking up a little putt-putt car

I wonder about those economics - buying "another" car for shorter trips...

1) Extra insurance payment (with high coverage, the cost of the vehicle is only a minor amount; my new Explorer and old Miata are similar)

2) Extra storage.

3) Extra licensing.

4) I bought a vehicle I like to drive.  If I was happy driving a "micro-box", why own the other vehicle?

5) Most accidents happen within like 10 miles of home

Note, my 1986 Volkswagen Golf got up to 43 MPG (that was the average on a 550 mile trip at an average speed of 83, from New Mexico back to Denver).  The technology is there to get much better mileage than today's miserable "standards".  Most VW's get high 30's-40's.  They have like 4 of the top 10 fuel-efficient vehicles in America, even when hybrids are included in the list

Quote from: dthurkI thought I read recently that crude prices went DOWN $6 a barrel and are now under $70 per barrel. Has anyone seen a drop in prices at the pump yet?
Here in Atlanta, they dropped significantly over the weekend.  Gas was around $2.89 last week and by Sunday it was in the $2.70 ish range.
