We had one like this years ago.   http://www.sportsimportsltd.com/4bipocara.html

Worked OK No need to drill any holes in the roof top. If memory serves, you had to mount the strap anchors on the camper box or at the lower edge of the roof.

Good luck in whatever choice you make.

The above link is to another forum with a load of posts on homebuilt bike racks.  Maybe something there that you might be interested.  The retail price on a pro-rac style that attaches to the trailer tongue is about 450 clams, but there are simular styles that people are building for 100 and change.

Check out my "hitch" modification to use a hitch mounted bike carrier

//www.lmack.org  click on Interests on left side of first page, then Camper Mods.

You may want to look at cargo carrier mod to see how I got the receiver hitch...

Hope you find this useful

I have this bike rack (above link) right now and it does work well. And like Bob mentioned, you do have anchors that have to be mounted/screwed into the side of the roof which is always better than the top of the roof. I also use a few bungee cords and then I use a ratcheting strap that I hook on the frame under the PUP and run it across the bikes and hook it up on the opposite side frame. I am taller, so putting up and taking down the bikes is not that difficult but it can be a challenge. I also put my portable tote on the bike rack which is handy.

Look around....there are quite a few new PUP bike racks out there now that might suit your needs better. Good luck!

I dont know, I haul with a DodgeRam 1500 and put the bikes in the bed with the fire wood.  Works for me, dont scratch anything, dont have to drill any holes.  Of coarse if you tow with a SUV or economy, I guess , yeah there would be a situation there.

sorry, never mind.
