I just bought a new (well, new to me, anyway) popup camper, and boy, am I ever excited! Why, I'm so worked up that I'm gonn split town tomorrow morning for a 3000 mile trip to the East Coast, and ain't comin' back home for a month.

I had a bout a week to shop for a camper (long story), and found a 1995 Jayco Eagle 10 ST with A/C, Add-A-Room awning, everything in spectacularly good shape, and it even came complete with a busted lift system! Nuthin' to it; I had that little baby put to bed before dinnertime, and now I know how it works in case anything happens on the road. Got it for a great price too, as you might've guessed.

While researching campers beforehand, I saw those ads for the air conditioner cover stabilizer thingy. On the way home with my new rig, I observed where a need for it might arise... mine was dancing merrily... what's up with that? So I made a stabilizer for myself (no time to order one), installed it this morning, and it works superbly!

I'm looking forward to returning home and asking lots of questions, and with any luck at all, contributing some ideas of my own. I've already heavily modified a former girlfriend's Coleman pup, and it's better than new and still going strong. And now... I get to customize MY OWN! I'm taking an enormous tool bag along, may even accomplish a few things on the road.

Hope to hear from some of y'all before bedtime tonight! After that, I'll see you in July. And if any of y'all see a guy with wooden kayaks on the racks and a popup camper between Galveston and Washington DC, hope you'll come over and say hello. If it isn't me, at least all wooden kayak owners are friendly. :D

Cheers,
Kurt

Congrats on your new pup.  And I don't think you will have all that many questions when you return.  After a month long trip, you are probably going to be the new expert.

P.S.  If you like those wooden kayaks, take a side trip over to Annapolis from DC and look at the Chesapeake Light Craft store.  Some good looking boats there.

Yup! As a matter of fact, going to see the folks at CLC is the reason for the trip. I'm the featured guest paddler at their annual OkoumeFest show June 9-11...
